Re: Fanatec Game Gear
Cool. I've also discovered something else about the gt2 wheels. The reason why I was losing all control in the wheel was because there was not a direct line of sight between the xbox and the wheel. I moved the box and hey, not more issues. Also, I have the turtle Beach x11 headphones and I noticed they cut out every so often. Discovered you have to plus them into the wheel chat line before you power it up.
Oh, and always power up the xbox first or the wheel just loses feedback.

Re: Fanatec Game Gear
I'm really looking forward to my GT2 - simparts NZ are due to have some in at the end of the month.
They've actually been really good, and I've got a reasonable discount from them (although I've bought a fair bit). If any of the NZ guys were looking at a Fanatec wheel I'd recommend looking at doing it shortly - I think their stock is reasonably limited...

Looks like you were enjoying the drive dogfuss.
Did you talk to them about wheel settings at all, or get a chance to find out the settings they were using?

Re: Fanatec Game Gear
Hey guys,
I want to tweak the CS brake pedal on my rig.
Try to shorten the travel a bit without increasing the pedal pressure.
I've seen avid review/guide that says you can achieve this by using the longer metal plunger that comes in the clubsport tuning kit. Also that you can change the feel by using the other PU foam parts.
Have any of the guys who bought the tuning kit tried tweaking their brake setup at all?
Or can anyone tell me a bit about the metal plungers 24mm and 30mm that are in the kit.
Edit: I've posted a link to the CS review/guide in the OP of this topic

Re: Fanatec Game Gear
Thanks Dazza,
Interesting the use of high FF settings and drift mode 2.
I read posts on another forum about circuit racers using drift mode.I tried drift 1 last night and it did feel ok. It makes the FF a bit less heavy.
Wonder why ppl find thats better than lower FF settings and not using drift mode? Looks like more testing required.
@Dazz, do you have any comments on my post above, about tuning the CS pedals. I'm starting to think I might have to buy the tuning kit.

Re: Fanatec Game Gear
I have the tuning kit, and to be honest I am wondering why I bought it. I find the brake heavy in F1 2010, but it seems ok to me in Forza. Maybe I should have a play with the bits.
In F1 2010, I can not for the life of me make the wheels lock up with brake pressure in game set to full and pressing the CS brake as hard as I can.

It may be a game setting if FM3 is ok but F1 2010 isn't.
Couple of things I've noticed or read along the way:
- the rotary switch on the CS brake makes a huge difference to required pedal pressure. I have mine turned clockwise as far as it will go, (thats the lightest setting).
Where is youre set and have you tried adjusting it?
- check that you're getting full pressure on the pedals themselves using the PC utility.
I did that when I first got the kit. I know you posted elsewhere that you checked in game pressure and it looks ok, I've done the same and agree with what you said, but still no harm in checking the pedals direct on a pc.
- the tuning kit review/guide that I read (new lnk in OP this topic) has some info about changing the metal rods and/or the pu foam parts to change pedal travel and pedal pressures.
Something you can try if other things don't work, since you have the tuning kit.
- I read a post on another forum (maybe the 911 wheel forum) about a guy who had problem with brake pressure not working properly and his set had a faulty load cell that had to be replaced.
- Edit: there's also the firmware updater that allows you to flash different brake deadzones to the firmware. Available from the fanatec website.

As much as I want a GT2 I think I'll wait for one of the Forza 4 CSR/CSR elite wheels unless someone can convince me otherwise

Re: Fanatec Game Gear
+1
The choice is yours clarkson, but it could be a long wait.
I'm not sure how pricing will be when these wheels eventually reach the market.
But I'd guess that the CSR Elite will be significantly dearer. Given the upmarket construction, carbon fibre and "Elite" badge.
The CSR price, I'd guess similar to a GT2, but only good for xbox?
If you've followed Fanatec at all, delivery timetables are not their strong point. So it may be a while before you see one in OZ.

Re: Fanatec Game Gear
Hmmmmmm I guess I could get a GT2 and maybe sell it when/if the new wheels are released in OZ
Ps: What are the chances of me becoming a "fanatic sniffer" if I get a GT2?

When I was talking to hess (pagnian imports) late last week about my GT2 wheel, he mentioned that his is running low on clubsport pedals currently (which is why I bought mine now and not after I get my tax back). He wont get more stock until mid-august.

Re: Fanatec Game Gear
How does the GT2 work with ingame d pad options eg: In F1 2010 you press right on the d pad to bring up 3 options you can change with either up, down or right.
Also would the tuning kit be worth getting

Theres a 4 way pad on the bottom spoke of the wheel that you use the same as the D pad in FM3. Not sure with F1 2010 - haven't played for a loong time. The changed wheel layout takes some getting used to and may be another reason you would wait for the Forza wheels to come out.
I doubt its worth buying the tuning kit unless you want to change pedal pressure settings.
The new CS pedals come with brass bushings and you can buy lube at any bicycle shop.
(both part of the tuning kit).
I'm thinking about getting a kit for the brake pressure adjustment options and smaller accell pedal. Dazza has one and was wondering why he bothered, he hasn't used it yet.
I read a couple of reviews and the guys raved about the extra adjustments you can make to pedal feel etc.

Dpad is exactly the same as controller, and use your left thumb for Right Stick L and R buttons so you can look out the sides of the car too, its awesome
iwolf beat me too it,
bottom spoke of wheel contains select/start, and D pad
left spoke- right stick R/L only as buttons
right spoke- A/B/Y/X

Re: Fanatec Game Gear
i was in at pagnian today & there`s plenty of GT2 wheels left, but only about 12 clubsport pedals left. Other guy there said expecting more mid august, but orders are normally late, so it could be later than that if you are thinking of getting some. Only had a couple of nights with new wheel but allready think it is fantastic
