Re: Fanatec Game Gear
OK DID MY FIRST MOD,
got annoyed with the sound of the H- shifter, so it needed to be quietened
tools
small phillips screwdriver, and a file
unscrewed the shifter, popped the stick and white thingy right out and simply filed down the 2 bumps the little silver ball runs over, and reassemble,
now much better, seems alot nicer to move also, took me all of about 10min
now contemplating flogging the momo gearknob from my project car to replace the stick

Finally!
got my Shi# together and finished of the RU-GT2 cockpit
Naked (cockpit)
Fully dressed - H patten shifter
Ive created 2 shifter posts, the H patten sits low, very similar to a normal gear position in a centre console and the Sequential sits closer to the wheel.
Oh, dont forget the hanger for the Turtle Beach H/Set
Now all Ive got to do is turn it on.... happy racing

Re: Fanatec Game Gear
funny thing Mr T, it cost me a can of spray paint and a couple of bolts.
an old (roof rack) client, owed my a few favours, so they bent and supplied the steel for free!
didn't use all the bits,
I just made it to measure, re bent a few angles, a couple of bolts n screws before welding it.
I have a pdf of the plan, if anyone want it, just pm me

Re: Fanatec Game Gear
@ stoner, Im going to have to give that shifter mod a go, that clicking given me the Shi#s too....
Noticed, you have move you clutch pedal (plate) to the left. Ive move the brake closer to the right. I found that I was foot lagg'n from the brake to the accelerator.
has anyone changed the the support bolt connecting the pedal at the back , higher or lower, I assume it will change the angle of the pedal, but not sure if it changes the feel under use?

Re: Fanatec Game Gear
yeah contemplating moving the plate, doesnt seem to bother me yet and i use big shoes lol sometimes i push both at the same time is annoying
im having problems with this setup, im slower sitting up rather than sitting on the floor lol bit of getting use to and may start looking at moving the T bar etc to get the feel back,
kinda wish i didnt play GT5 the other night since then ive been slower on forza also, and hope they have some decent FFB on FM4 too

Re: Fanatec Game Gear
RU-GT2 verII
need to go back to the body shop for a cut and tuck!, basically the wheel position was too low.
so I cut the diagonals above the support bar and placed a over-sleeve, re-braced it, and made it adjustable, thxs to a quick release bike axle.
Ive now got up to an extra 100mm height adjustment, but Ive set it to 50mm at this point

Re: Fanatec Game Gear
Having the M$ wheel kick me back to menu while I was doing my best to delay PuttzNZ in the Carrera cup last week forced me to get to work and build a temporary stand for the GT2 wheel. The result is a bit rough, but it'll do for now.
I've been experimenting with it this week and clearly it'll take some time to get used to the differences in wheel layout, but most importantly to burn the new 3 pedal setup and driving technique into my memory in place of the old 2 pedal and thumb clutch. Will be sticking with the paddle shifters for now.
I've found the FF is VERY heavy if I use 100% in game and on the wheel. So am currently running 70% wheel/60% game with 420 degree rotation and linearity set to 0. And thinking I might still go lighter on FF.
I'm liking the feel of the brake pedal with the pressure soft and using ABS to provide some rumble before wheel lockup.
I'm still wrecking gearboxes from bad clutch/shift timing, but not as much as when I first started.
In game settings and deadzones:
wheel: inside = 0, outside = 100
accell & decell: in = 0, out = 95
brake: in = 0 out = 100
clutch: in = 0, out = 60
vibration = 80%
FF = 60%
@Dazza, seems you've done the most work so far.
What wheel and in game settings are you running now?
Any new findings from anyone else on changes to wheel/pedal setup?

Re: Fanatec Game Gear
Last night wolf & I did a few laps, spent more time chatting about wheel setups that actual laps, lol.
I personally interested in what car tune setups guys have changed to suit the wheel, if any...
Next Thursday night were having another bash, so if any other GT2 wheel guys what to join in for a run and chat online, be there!

Re: Fanatec Game Gear
The bigest change I have made to my tunes is the brake pressure.
I have turned this up by about 30%, so if I was using 100, now I use 130.
everything else is pretty much the same as far as car tunes go, mind you I am still off the pace a bit, and I am still playing.
I will try and write down some settings tonight. I have basically 2 wheel setups so far, 1 for Forza and 1 for Dirt 3.

Wow 30% a big jump. The brake pressure was something we were talking about last night, I think wolf raised his by 10%, I havent touched it yet, but was thinking about 10% too, but will give it ago
