Re: 2013 V8 Supercars Discussion
So new Red Bull team eh? Still operating same as last years vodafone v8s and same as the F1 team? I.e one teammate can constantly get shafted whilst the other can be always given priority for pitstops and parts etc.... for the sake of the championship?
A worthy drivers championship it must be, and well earned when they operate this way.
Funny that I bet these same guys would say that Schumachers dominance in F1 from 2000 to 2006 and the way he went about it was bad for the sport, yet they do the same thing. Worse actually. At least he did it 1st, and at least the early Ferraris he started with were actually for the most part dogs, i.e he didnt just jump into the best team, demand number 1 treatment and then start winning everything and strut around thinking he is gods gift..
Lol good luck Craig Lowndes in the "championship battle" this year. Personally id be whipping out the "not bad for a number 2 driver" line when he takes that 1st win of the year after Jamies car develops a problem and the team have no choice but to get behind Craig at that race and to actualy allow him pass the "Golden Boy" of Australian Touring Car racing for once.
Dunno what all the hype was about with the car too, does it not look exactly how anyone would picture a Red Bull paint job on a Commondore? Wow groundbreaking stuff there!!!
As you can tell Im really buying into the v8 publicity machine and false hype etc etc they are trying to put on the Australian v8 loving public this year........... now wheres a XXXX and my ciggies, I need to go do a burnout in my SS so I can feel like a genuine Aussie bloke and all that, grunt grunt, maaaaaaate! Geez why doesnt that chick find me yelling "show us your tits" attractive, it cant be me, she must be a hoe. Doesnt she know chicks are only there as objects to entertain me? grunt grunt grunt, beer beer, grunt. maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaate. :-)
I think that about sums up what I wanted to express hahaha!

Hahaha that it motor racing dude. Right back to the years of Stirling Moss and Denny Hulm at lotus(?), this is the way it has, is and always will be. The would-be champion attacking the championship, his team mate defending as "rear gunner".

Chrysler 300 SRT8 - The official safety and course cars:
The scorching Chrysler 300 SRT8 sedan will claim pole position as the official safety car at each event. Powered by a stonking 6.4-litre Hemi V8 engine, the Chrysler 300 SRT8 will have no trouble leading the pack throughout the championship.
The similarly potent Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 – again powered by the famous SRT8 6.4-litre Hemi V8, will be employed as official course car for the event.
Both vehicles can certainly hold their own in track conditions. The new 6.4-litre Hemi engine common to both is backed by decades of uncompromising Chrysler engine development, and stands tall as one of the world’s most powerful naturally aspirated V8s.
Sam Tabart, Director of Marketing at the Fiat Chrysler Group said, “We’re excited to add V8 Supercars to our brand’s sponsorship portfolio. The Chrysler brand has a rich heritage of racing across the world which makes the partnership such a great fit”, said Tabart.
V8 Supercars’ Director of Commercial and Marketing John Dunlop welcomed the Chrysler and Jeep brands to the championship.
“Chrysler is an amazing partner and getting to work with them in 2013 and 2014 will be fantastic. The Chrysler 300 SRT8 and Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 are such strong brands and great cars that will gain valuable exposure on and off track”, said Dunlop.
The stylish Chrysler 300SRT8 sedan, complete with emergency lights and striking livery, was unveiled on Channel Seven’s Sunrise in Sydney’s Martin Place this morning.
The Chrysler 300 SRT8 and the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 vehicles will make their debut tomorrow at the season launch Test Day at Eastern Creek, which will give the public a sneak preview of the 2013 line up.

Seconded, y0
I love the look of that Mercedes, looks pretty damn tough. I'm quite partial to the Supercheap and the FPR liveries aswell.

I agree with you Reapr, I think if a team has two top drivers (in V8s such as Lowndes and Whincup, or in F1 such as Webber and Vettel) then it would be a much more interesting spectacle and championship battle if the team just said "right, lets let them have at eachother and see who comes out the winner". Treatment such as pit-stacking and being forced to concede positions is frankly a bit too Ferrari for my liking (sorry for you Ferrari fans, but Massa didn't need that many gearbox changes last season).
But at the same time, the team doesn't want to risk losing the championship to someone other than one of their own if their two drivers are too busy fighting it out to see the ultimate goal which is winning the championship.
Both sides will always have arguments and opinions on both sides of the fence but here's my two cents on all of it.

Re: 2013 V8 Supercars Discussion
Just gonna put it out there, but if i were driving for a championship winning team, and i was as good as my teammate but the team managers wanted the other guy to win by default, i'd be pissed.
Its simply not fair racing, to absolutely ANYONE on the track, including teammates.

Re: 2013 V8 Supercars Discussion
The video doesn't do the Mercedes any justice.
They have a really tough V8 sound at idle but when they are up it they sound kinda like some sort of formula car.
My verdict is that the AMGs are maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad

Wait till they hit the streets at the Clipsal 500 in a couple of weeks, the sound in a confined space is just awesome, I must admit nothing sounded as good as the GT's last year.

Re: 2013 V8 Supercars Discussion
I was just wondering if anyone would be interested in doing a V8Supercar Tipping League.
It will be done through the new Castrol Edge V8 Prdictor on Speedcafe.
Let me know so I know if I should start a League.
It will be fun

Yep, That's most likely. Also Cooldrive distribution as Tims father owns it.NoRecoil wrote:
