2013 Formula One Discussion
Thought I would throw up a topic to discuss the championship/drivers/cars/teams/anything F1, seems though we have our own V8 topic and not an F1 topic.
The race today was an awesome one. After a drenched Q1 and P3 yesterday (I was caught in it, absolutely horrible weather and got completely drenched) it was good to see a relatively dry race.
Loved the pace of the Lotus, they had a very strong showing with Kimi and Grosjean was in the points too, but to me didn't seem to have the pace to battle with the front-runners today.
Fernando was, as always, a great drive. A couple of "whoa" moments, especially in the dying laps where he almost hit a Caterham at the 2nd last turn, but great drive from him. Very consistent and quick on the race day.
Vettel had a strong start, and looked like he was going to take the win, but ended up being a little below the pace of the Ferraris and the Lotus of Raikkonen.
Hamilton looked good in qualifying, but didn't really impress too much in the race. It was great to see Rosberg up there with him not being fazed by Hamilton's pace and performance and unlucky for him to DNF.
My drive of the day either goes to Kimi, or to new-old boy Adrian Sutil for Force India. Kimi for making his way through the field to first, and proving his speed, and Adrian Sutil for sticking it to the Red Bulls and Ferraris, showing some great pace in that car.

Yeah it was a good race. Pity that webber bogged it off the start and didn't go anywhere else by the finish but thats the way it goes. The ice man definately lived up to his name in his interviews on the tv and i dont even know if he smiled after he had won the race ha ha. One day i will get there to see all these awesome races in real life!!

Next year they move to the turbo 6 cylinders, lets hope the sound is still as awesome so you'll get to come down and see the new cars! Although, looking back at vids from the V10s to these V8s, it'll probably be a step down in sound again unfortunately.
Yeah, Webber was a bit unlucky at his home race. Something about Albert Park makes him make some mistakes and costs him a decent finish unfortunately.

Re: 2013 Formula One Discussion
It was a bit of a boring race imo. I don't usually fall asleep during a race but I did with this one.
But it was good to see "I know what I'm doing" Raikkonen get a win.
A good solid start to the year by Lewis in a car that isn't the best right now.
Webber, Well what can I say. I really thought that this was going to be his year but the Albert Park curse raised it's ugly head again.
I was super impressed by Sutil who probably should of had a top 5 if only he didn't have to go onto the super softs at the end.
I'm looking forward to Sepang where hopfully the rain will spice the racing up

But you're talking about the awesome "1000 horsepower" cars of the late 80s, where economy and emissions didn't matter one single bit.
The newer V6 turbos are being introduced to be economical and reduce emissions.
I admit I might be a little biased against them, I apologise, I just really hope that when they downsize, the engines sound just as good as they do today, or even better, rather than decreasing the sound quality. The sound is half the reason why these cars are so awesome to see in real life!

Re: 2013 Formula One Discussion
And that is why Kimi is the best driver ever^^^^^^
I'm really curious to see if he can pull off a double-win at Malaysia on Sunday. If the Lotus really is as good on tires as it was at Melbourne (evident by the "apparent" ease of running two stops compared to major competitors (such as Ferrari and Red Bull) three stop strategy).
However, Alonso is definitely not to be overlooked. While I'm not his biggest fan, there's no doubt he's one of the greatest in the sport right now. And Vettel always seems to be on pole nowadays and winning races. I'm personally not a fan of him either, but respect his achievements and the amount of speed he actually has.
My money would be on Kimi for a double-win, and for a Ferrari and a Red Bull to round out the podium.
Keep an eye on:
Nico Hulkenberg (Sauber)
Adrian Sutil and Paul Di Resta (Force India)
Felipe Massa (Ferrari)

Also keep an eye on Grosjean, because if you don't he'll run into you.

After passing his teammate against the wishes of Red Bull, Sebastian Vettel has apologized to Mark Webber following the Malaysian Grand Prix.
“I did make a big mistake today,” said Vettel after the race.
“We should have stayed in the positions we were in. I didn’t ignore it [the order to hold position] on purpose but I messed up the situation.
“It doesn’t help his feelings right now. Apologies to Mark and now the result is there, but all I can say is that I didn’t do it deliberately.”
Vettel had trailed Webber since the first round of stops in Malaysia, but he closed on his teammate after the final pit stops towards the end of the race. Despite the team telling him to back off, the German driver took the lead from his teammate and then set off into the distance.
The tension between the two drivers was evident on the podium, and in the ‘cool down’ room after the race, Webber was seen shouting “multi 21″ at Vettel, believed to be the code used by Red Bull when they want to hold position.
As well as apologizing to Webber, Vettel also admitted that he put the 1-2 finish for the team at risk.
“I took quite a lot of risk to pass him and I should have behaved better.”
Webber made his disappointment clear at the end of the race, and Red Bull will be keen on repairing their drivers’ relationship during the three week break before the Chinese Grand Prix. However, playing ‘happy families’ is the last thing on Webber’s mind, who is keen on returning to his native Australia during the break.
“It is three weeks to the next race so we are fortunate,” said Webber. “I will catch some waves in Australia.”

Yeah gotta feel for webber, and as much as I dislike Vettel at least he raced to the end, these team orders F1 has is shit and from a fans perspective down right unsporting, look at the merc driver who should of had 3rd but Nooo golden child hamilton got to get it and he knew and was embarrased by it.
The team has more to answer than what Vettel has imo, and should let the drivers race from the first lap to the last, total rubbish by the F1 teams last night and downright degrading to motorsport racing.

After watching the race today I asked myself, what would Schumacher have done?
And that's why Vettel is a multiple world champion. Just like schu he is a ruthless, win at all cost competitor. And a c*** of a teammate.
