Re: 2012 V8 Supercars Discussion
Roland Dane has said many times that stacking is a great problem for the team it means they have 2 very competitive drivers.
I loved the race on Sunday and quite happy with the outcome. Triple 8 are now 1 & 2 in the championship.
To be honest once lowndes made 3rd place I was not too fused who won out of JW, DR, or CL. I think the best 3 drivers were in the best 3 positions at the right end of the race. Well done to all of them. I don't really care what brand shell won, there are pretty much the same anyway.

1:If Lowndes had of been in front, Whincup would of had been stacked instead. It's just the way it goes.
They pitted Lowndes early to get him off sinc with whincup though, which put lowndes behind on track - then stacked him anyway.
It not even about being a "Whincup Hater" either, Lowndes made a huge charge toward the end of the race and had to work through the field multiple times after being stacked in the pits while Whincup did it easy out in front. It as a hollow victory in my eyes.

Re: 2012 V8 Supercars Discussion
I thought they pitted early because of the left rear tire problem. Then had to try and get him back in sync with the rest of the field so pitted him under pace car to gain some track position.
Given the tire issue Luffy had, I think they did a great job to get up to 3rd. Great drive from both Luff and Lowndes. As much as I like Lowndes and Luff, I really can not take anything away from Car 1. They ran a faultless race and deserved the win.
I did here a comment from Lowndes though ragarding Whincup going to Nascar... very funny.

Couldn't of said it any better myself.
If I was Whincup I wouldn't go and race cars that only turn left, I'd be off to europe to race sports cars although I do remember him saying a little while back that he would love to have a go in the WTCC.

Re: 2012 V8 Supercars Discussion
They bought Lowdnes in early to get him off sequence.
problem was that they chose to come in every safety car after this, roll the f*cken dice and skip one,
They shouldve run him up to front of field and stayed out (with the benefit of a higher fuel from earlier pit stop strategy) behind the safety car and taken P1 and then gone all out and waited for the next safety car.
They would have avoided stacking twice AND been able to run full fuel for the duration of the race, they would have won by a huge margin had they not taken the f*cken 888 nerd approach that their engineers provide every time to get him second or third.
Lowdnsey needs to highjack the Chipmunks (Courtneys) drive at HRT and get some decent brains behind his ability.
He is the best driver in the field imo, 888 have cost him 2 Bathurst wins now in a row along with last years Sandown and his championships last year and as it gets closer seems to be this year also.
I love 888 but their race strategy every time makes me want to stab them all in the eye with a pit jack!
Well done to JW, hell of a drive, and the podium was well deserved by all.
...,just that the best drive of the race last year got second and the best drive this year got third.
and just so you know, im a Tander fan (WA Boy). Nice bin job from Percat in a car that would have been all over the front of field no doubt.

Re: 2012 V8 Supercars Discussion
Just so we are clear, Luff pitted around lap 11 because of a tire problem, not because of other reasons that the channel 7 commentary led us to believe at the time.

Plus
Jeremy had no idea if there was going to be any more safety cars, so T8 played catch up all day with 888 because of the tire problem Luff had.

Re: 2012 V8 Supercars Discussion
They still filled the tank is my point, thus getting the 2 cars off sync, which once done for the tire issue, SHOULD HAVE put them on diff strategies.
They had the opportunity to maintain this and chose not too.
OOHHHH Safety Car .........quick Pit regardless!
Lightning McQueen could run a better strategy!
You roll the dice on 161 laps races that goes for 6 hours is my point.
Every one knew they were going to stack once they trimmed back into coming in for every single safety car.
They should not have, as stacking in the pits mean NOT WINNING and if your out there to come second or third then you deserve second or third and nothing else...exactly what they got.
If they want to do that then paint the car purple, paint a giant anchor on it and make Pavlich drive it.....

Re: 2012 V8 Supercars Discussion
888 didnt come in on every safety car.. there was one that i remember that Luff stayed out and ended up in the lead for a while..
So they didnt double stack until near the end when they had the 23 laps before the tyre died scenario...
Just sayin..

Re: 2012 V8 Supercars Discussion
Lol.
I think I will need to draw a graph to explain why one if the best driver/engineer combinations in the game did what they did.
IMO Lowndes us with the best team he could be with and it is just unfortunate that Whincup is in the same team. Unfortunate for Lowndes, not a bad thing for T8 though.

its a really bad problem for T8 to have.. real strong drivers, strong cars... running 1,2 in the championship.
look at HRT.. one strong driver and one dancer..

Re: 2012 V8 Supercars Discussion
For once i agree with Mr. T.
because that is my exact point - if hes going to end up going from 5th to 16th by being stacked in the pits then stay out and run an alternate strategy till the final stint - If you have no choice but to be double stacked in the final 20 odd laps then do it then - Not half way through the race a few times.
It worked for Reynolds and almost payed off big time.
Ill have to watch the telecast again but im sure Slade/Reynolds never double stacked at any point - at least i dont remember seeing either car waiting to be serviced - and Slade was in the running until there Tyre issue late in the race.

Taking a gamble (staying out during safety car) for track posi, and as a result risk having to pit under green flag, just sounds stupid, no matter how long the race is.
Lets not pit under this safety car and get track posi, wooo first place. Uh oh now let's pit under green flag, 20th place doh.

I find this very offensive!!!! I never post up on here that I have spent more time pushing Holdens than I have ever rode in them.

Hind sight is a wonderful thing. Now how can we introduce random safety cars in to OZFM races?

Re: 2012 V8 Supercars Discussion
They double stacked twice, same as last year. No one else double stacks when they are in a position to win!!
Good problem for 888 to have but they dont seem to be able to manage it.
I dont doubt that they are the premier team in the game, have been for a long time.... but their Bathurst strategy sux ass for their second car and ultimately leaving one of Australias best ever drivers short of phenominal results at Bathurst.
Run a diff strategy is my point, ... your strategy would be to not predict any safety cars at all at Bathurst....NEVER EVER HAPPENED!
Anyway cant change it now.
Will be another close battle for the championship from here though.
What was the comment made about Nascar, i missed it?
Nice one Recoil!! hahaha progress !!

When there another safety car, you have an EPIC win and then win the race.
Watch the telecast again, had they tried to win the race this strategy wouldve worked like a charm!!
then watch last years race, its exactly the same with the required second safety car coming right on time.
Yes huge gamble....for huge reward!!!
Risk nothing = gain nothing!
