Re: mcrow5's real life photos - VicDrift Round 1
i have no idea who the owner is haha, its a wedding car. it would look really good on my wall though
maybe another 30x20 inch print is in order. i doubt people would believe me when i said i only used my camera. no flash used at all, barely any light (it was at sunset). go go photoshop!! haha

Would be tricky to flash anyway - all that gleaming metal is likely to end up with yucky hot spots. Much better to use ambient light as you have. Yeah - clearly photoshopped, but I don't have a problem with that - I see it as part of the creative process.

wasn't much of a photoshop though, the main thing i did was the selective colour. that and some levels and some minor colour adjustments. i went 'WOW' when i saw the colour of the car after the edits.

this is what i did on sunday, went up to Shepparton for HSV's DECA motorkhana event. took more than 1000 photos, and i still haven't managed to get through them all yet.

hey mcrow, wouldve been awesome event.
once you get throught them all hit them(HSV DECA) up and see if anyone wants to buy the pics like we disucssed prior.
Like the Quad racers they will shell out good cash to buy pics of their cars guaranteed, they cant take pics while threy are driving.
find a host site or somethign, watermark your pics on there for show, then sell them the tweaked versions all polished up
CA CHING!!!!

Re: mcrow5's real life photos - VicDrift Round 1
it was awesome! apart from the rain. it did give me a chance to test Canon's claim of the L lens' being water proof. they are! haha, well at least rain proof, and my 550d survived as well which is good. seeing as it has no weather sealing at all.
ive got most of the photos sorted into their own folder (ie each folder has one car in it, but all the photos of that car). will have to watermark them all tonight and make a set on flickr. will chuck an email to the editor of the hsv magazine and get a mention in there so people know to look.

random moon photo. not to bad for a handheld effort i reckon. cbf'd getting the tripod out. taken with my new 100-400mm lens = heavy and shaky. 10 points to the person who can guess how i overcame the problem.

Great lighthouse shot.
And my answer for the luna question is that you used ISO1600, f5.6.
This gave a 1/200th sec exposure which isn't too bad for 400mm.

Nice work mate!
Take some good ones, and you never know where you might end up and how much $$$ may be involved!

Haven't been in here for a while.
But had a look just now and boy, mcrow - you're coming up with some great shots in the real world now!
Congrats on getting official photographer status at the HSV gig as well.
Top stuff man, well done.

Love that Southbank waterfront shot. I reckon if you very slightly cropped it to get rid of the corner of the building on the left it would look better (or you could just paint sky over the top of it). Either way.
