Either one of those lenses are fkn huge. Especially when you factor in the x1.4 for using a smaller sensor (oh hang on - I can't remember which camera you have and if it is the smaller sensor or not).
Jealous! I did see a 300mm L series one on sale recently - bloody tempting to say the least.

Mcrow - just read this interesting article about UV filters. It's kinda having a laugh, but I think there's a good message underneath it all:

well here she is, fkn love it!!!!
and to give you an idea of how big the lens is, here it is standing next to my 10-22mm. and thats not even extended to 400mm either, it gets almost twice the length as it is now.

well Teds are going to have an unhappy customer come and visit them tomorrow night, the auto focus is screwed. makes a clicking noise sometimes, and most of the time doesn't auto focus right. hopefully they have another one in stock and i get a new one.

Re: mcrow5's real life photos - VicDrift Round 1
well and update on my lens, i took it back last night and it was agreed that the clicking happens, but for some reason it happened more on my camera body than it did on the 50d the guy tested the lens on. anyway, he was lazy and just put it in under warrenty, i said yeah and walked out disappointed that i wouldnt have my lens for 6 weeks.
but i was having a chat to my boss this morning (who worked in retail for 15 years) and he said that i should've been given a replacement. so at exactly 9am this morning, i rang up Teds and they agreed to give me a replacement i will have it in less than a week.

Nice work mate. They definitely should've just swapped it out for you.
Hopefully the new one's all good.
Bet ya glad you didn't get it off the Internet. It's often cheaper, but I'm always scared something like this would happen and you'd be having to post things backwards and forwards...

they didnt have any more in stock, i got the last one, so they are getting one in from a different store for me.

exactly, im not spending $2000 on a lens and then finding out its dodgy and ive got no warranty on it. yes its more expensive, but you get the peace of mind knowing that if it screws up your covered for a certain period of time (i now know from experience haha).
so now i wont be stuck using my 55-250mm kit lens for DECA next weekend nice big zoom to get nice and close to those hsv's.

That second one's s ripper. I reckon the owner would pay you for a good quality print of that.

i have no idea who the owner is haha, its a wedding car. it would look really good on my wall though
maybe another 30x20 inch print is in order. i doubt people would believe me when i said i only used my camera. no flash used at all, barely any light (it was at sunset). go go photoshop!! haha

Re: mcrow5's real life photos - VicDrift Round 1
Would be tricky to flash anyway - all that gleaming metal is likely to end up with yucky hot spots. Much better to use ambient light as you have. Yeah - clearly photoshopped, but I don't have a problem with that - I see it as part of the creative process.
