Canadian GP is up on tenplay. Not going to give anything away but definitely try to avoid social media and watch the race, well worth it

Stayed off social media all weekend as per normal when I cant watch live, got home a few moments ago and went straight to the TiVo to discover F1 hadn't recorded, spewing. Came here and thought sweet ill look at tenplay and watch the race, sweet. MASSIVE SPOILER ALERT. Went to tenplay, clicked on sport; f1; scrolled down and boom headline reads race result... you've got to be f87king kidding what the actual f*&k?

The current car is designed around the 13inch wheel and tyre.

But obviously the guys down at Lotus F1 would've been on Forza Motorsport 5, with tuning calculator handy, cutting laps of Silverstone in last years chassis with 18inch wheels fitted.

Looks weird as hell. Who put Habib and his cousins in charge at Pirelli?

Lets see...

Same size rims as most modern GT and prototype cars run.
Same size rims as the V8 Supertaxis run. The reason above is one reason the V8's changed.
Most likely the same tyre build as above. Could this cost less in the long run?
More room for less complicated brake setups, or just bigger rotors. Off the shelf GT brake parts maybe?

F1 will have to re-engineer the suspension as the tyres will not do any where near the work they do now.

They do look a little weird right now but I am sure they will grow on me in time just like the new engine sound has.

In terms of performance i'm not exactly sure, a resident tyre expert on here could explain what effects it would have on turning/tyre wear, but it looks absolutely shit. It's not that the wheels themselves look bad (they wouldn't look too bad on a street car) it's just that it's wrong to put them on an F1 car, it just ruins the look. And it would probably have a negative effect on performance too.
