Yeah it was a bit edgy on that call Razor, but the rules clearly state that the car controller is not allowed to touch the car, he touched the car, it's pretty black and white. Shame it cost him the win but the rules are the rules

Re: 2014 V8 Supercars
Would like to see the data from Giz and Ricks cars showing that they went above 60kph before the AZ zone rather the the V8 officials "Assumption" that they exceeded the speed limit.
I also don't think the AZ zone is that bad. It worked well last year with the double file restart in the 60/60. I just don't think it suits the Adelaide track with the first corner like it is but maybe if the stupid tire bundle was removed it wouldn't be so bad.
Also found this on Facebook. It made me laugh

Actually the rule says "One of the people in Rule D12.2.1 must be the Car controller; (12.2.2.4) who must not undertake any work at all on a Car at any pit stop"

Doubt it, its a very budget affair at symmons plains....
They only bring one big TV on the back of a truck and there isn't really anywhere to set it up at the end of the back straight

Re: 2014 V8 Supercars
I know it looks dodgy but he was already along side before the breaking zone therefore it is up to the car being overtaken to take action to avoid any contact. Both the merc and ford decided to hold 3 wide and therefor suffer the consequences. 3 going around the first corner just does not simply work.

Re: 2014 V8 Supercars
Four of those were mistakes. Not sure what the point of them were.
As for the 3 into 1 situation, everyone is well aware that it doesn't go.
Reynolds didn't see Tander and forced the Merc to stay tight, and Tander didn't see Reynolds and tried to squeeze the Merc out wide. Nice little sandwich, racing incident.
It happened at Clipsal, so the tweaked the rules to fix it. Now no one wants to follow the rules.
PS - This is by no means me defending Tander. He, and a few others, have made more then their fair share of bonehead moves in the past. Just don't think this was one of them.

That is ridiculous.

There was literally no where for the Merc to go, whoever was in the Ford and Tander are blatantly at fault there.

Re: 2014 V8 Supercars
Bathurst in REVERSE direction!
http://www.speedcafe.com/2014/04/01/v8-supercars-set-for-radical-bathurst-sprint-meeting/
This will be interesting as cars brake for forest elbow.
This is 01/04/2014... is this a gag? Seems like a strange time of the day (4AM) to release breaking news...

V8X wrote:Current V8 Supercars championship leader Craig Lowndes is set to contest his first Spa 24 Hour endurance race this year.
The deal has been put together by leading Australian GT outfit Maranello Motorsport and will see Lowndes partner fellow Aussie Steve Wyatt and two other yet to be announced drivers in an AF Corse-prepared Ferrari 458.
The event is scheduled for July 26-27, in between the V8 Supercars events at Townsville and Ipswich.
Lowndes took out this year's Bathurst 12 Hour event in a Maranello-prepared 458 alongside Mika Salo, John Bowe and Peter Edwards.
"I've driven at Spa before and it's an incredible track," says Lowndes, who raced at the famous Belgian track in his sole Formula 3000 season in 1997.
"After our success at the Bathurst 12 Hour in February this year, I just knew we had to put something together.
"I've been wanting to do more GT racing in Europe for a number of years, so to finally have such a great event locked in for 2014 is very exciting.
The combination of a Ferrari and the Spa circuit really is a dream come true."
Lowndes had been working on plans to debut at this season's Le Mans 24 Hours race, also in Ferrari GT squad.
"It's no secret we did look at the option of doing the Le Mans 24 Hour this year, but other commitments were making that prospect quite difficult," he says.
"The timing of Spa works perfectly around the V8 Supercar calendar this year and gives us a good opportunity to build something big for next year. It's the perfect scenario, really!
"Unlike Le Mans, there are no prototypes at Spa, so we will be outright contenders in the 458. But it will still obviously be a massive challenge, as a lot can happen going flat out around a place like Spa for 24 hours."

Re: 2014 V8 Supercars
Caruso was plagued by brake problems in practice. Had to replace a master cylinder. In the first session, then bleed air from the lines in the 2nd

Re: 2014 V8 Supercars
Speed Cafe wrote:“In addition to the two radars on pit lane, two timing lines, separated by five metres, are at pit entry,” (Damien) White wrote in an explanation of the system.
“The timing system does a time over distance calculation, and if the average speed in that distance is greater than 40km/h then a breach has occurred.
White meanwhile dismissed suggestions that the right-left chicane at Winton’s pitlane entry could have contributed to the situation.
“Both lines are completely parallel, and both are contained in the straight line of the pit entry,” he wrote.
Ummmm... If anybody else watched last week's telecast as closely as I did, you'll remember Larkham running down to pit entry to point out where the lane begins and where the timing sensors were in the road.
The first sensor was about a meter or so past the white line marking the beginning of pit lane and the 40kph speed limit. The second sensor was five meters down the road, after a right hand bend and before a left hand bend. Hypothetically, if one was to cut the right hand bend and slightly shorten the distance traveled between the two sensors... you get the point.
Unless good ol Larko pointed out the wrong lines and markings in the bitumen, or I looked at the wrong ones, then I'm totally wrong. But if not, then it looks like young Damo could be lying.
Anyway that's all irrelevant, because apparently the cars that got done for speeding were done by one of the two radar guns along pit lane. I wonder if that's the truth.
