Fanatec compatability - Xbox One
Gday all!
Been a while yes, but I'm still offline....still living in the same place with no (affordable) internet coverage. Oh well.
Anyway, I was wondering if anyone would be knowledgeable in regards to the current generation of Fanatec equipment, and if they would be compatible with the new Xbox One due in at the end of the year?
I've still got my GT2 setup, butt I don't want to be stuck with it after the release of Xbox One (when it is essentially worth nothing, or next to jack anyway)
Mitch
PS: has anyone tried to load OZFM on their phone (using Optus)? Bloody painful I tell ya!

PSS: Briefly, I Gotta say that I was verry impressed with Horizon. On the wheel, surround sound cranked, and bury the hatchet in a '12 GT500 Cobra - there is a lord!
Hehe! Yep, I can still hijack my own thread!

Re: Fanatec compatability - Xbox One
I am sure there are a few of us wondering this same thing. With a bit of luck E3 will bring us more answers. I am hoping a firmware upgrade or maybe even the use of USB, worst case I can speculate is we need a new wheel and the CSP and shifters will just plug in to the new wheel.

Like Dazza said - everyone that uses a fanatec wheel on xbox 360 is wondering whether they'll be compatible or made compatible with the xbox one. We'll know when we know...Mitch wrote:Gday all!

G'day.
But regardless, your existing wheel won't become instantly worthless. It'll still have resale value to the PC, PS3 and xbox 360 market if you want to unload it.

E3 is coming up in a week - we may get an answer then.
As has been pointed out elsewhere, they use different wireless connection methods, so that will be a major stumbling block. We shall see.

Sad News for fanatec owners <-- Click here
"Additionally, Joystiq reports that only peripherals designed for the Xbox One will work with the new console, meaning any old controllers you have won't work, and nor will the original Kinect."
I saw this coming.I just hope they put another decent wheel out for all you Xbox One jumpers.
One the plus side. Ebay's going to be full of wheels for those willing to stay with the 360.

That report was written back on the 21st of May. I may be foolish but I am still holding on to hope.
Until it specifically says Fanatec GT2 wheel, Club Sport pedals and the shifters will not work, I can dream.
That may just make me a foolish moron... lol

Re: Fanatec compatability - Xbox One
How would it be for us Fanatec owners if a Thrustmaster was steering FM5 at E3 on the Xbox one!!!
Maybe it could be multi peripheral compatible, and now my head hurts and wallet, and need beer and need to find that quite place to ponder why if maybe...But it could right.

I am currently here at E3 and a lot of things are going on. It is exciting to see a new console generation coming up. At the moment we still did not get a final confirmation whether our Xbox 360 wheels will work on Xbox One natively (USB) or with an adaper or upgrade kit or not at all. Therefore we cannot promise you anything other than that we are trying to find a solution and if MS allows it then we would certainly support any solution which increases the compatibility of your XBox 360 wheels. You can be sure that we are working to make our wheels compatible with the next gen consoles or develop solutions which will provide compatibility but at this point it is too early to discuss it. In any case our wheels will work with GT6 and after playing it, I am quite excited about the improvements of the physics. So what is your opinion? Xbox One or PS4? Forza Motorsport 5 or GT6? |

Fanatec via Facebook wrote:Fanatec on next gen consoles
A few people are wondering why we are so quiet.
We will not make the mistake again to mention new things too early. We will announce something new if production is about to start. We are working on several products for several platforms and every one of our new products will set a new benchmark as they did in the past.
We are also trying hard to protect the investment of our existing customers by making our current products upwards compatible. But we cannot confirm that before the final consoles are released.

Re: Fanatec compatability - Xbox One
Interesting that they can't confirm until the consoles are released. Then again, given the many confused backflips by MS, perhaps that's not surprising.
I'm looking forwards to the next gen of consoles and controllers anyway. It's going to be expensive as I'll also be buying a headset. Better start saving now...

Re: Fanatec compatability - Xbox One
Just had an interesting chat to Microsoft,
Read what you want in to this...
I mentioned the compatibility of the Fanatec wheel and in particular Fanatec's words about not releasing information until the release of XB1.
My theory goes like this (and it is just my theory).
Thrustmaster will have a deal with MS that puts them as a supplier for the wheel for XB1, lets assume that deal has something in it that limits other manufacturers from announcing their wheels will work or they have a solution until the release date. Thrustmaster will have a market advantage until release date with people thinking if they want a true sim experience on day 1 they will need to buy the thrustmaster wheel.
That is pretty much what I said to MS, the response I got was...
Where did you hear that, that information has not been released!
So, is it just me being wishful thinking, or have I stumbled on a piece of the puzzle?
Time will only tell I guess.

...but
Mad Catz has announced a xbox one compatible wheel... so they must have a deal with MS as well as thrustmaster.

With both the Madcatz and Thrustmaster wheels I also think there is a deal for exclusive rights with MS untill launch day (bet ya that cost a bit).

This just popped up on Forza 5 wiki page. Anyone know if its true?
UPDATE: On October 2nd 2013, Dan Greenawalt of T10 Studios officially confirmed that Forza Motorsport 5 will be compatible with ALL Fanatec wheels with XID compatibility. "We're proud to support all the wheels that the previous three iterations of Forza have supported" Dan stated in a telephone interview with a German gaming site.

Re: Fanatec compatability - Xbox One
From my understanding the issue has nothing to do directly with T10 but rather xbone, the XID protocol with is only used with Xbox shit.
So any statement from T10 about combatability I would have thought would be inaccurate.
I'm wrong with most things, let's hope I'm wrong here !

Re: Fanatec compatability - Xbox One
Just to throw it out there, Im not taking a chance of getting smashed with resale value of my GT2 halving once XboxOne rolls around, so its on Ebay at the moment....bidding starts @ $350...5-ish days left.
So the next question is, with Thrustmaster the new Xbox preference, what is their equivalent to the GT2 or even the CSR/Elite wheel? The TX just doesn't seem to be the equivalent that I want after many years of use with the three-pedal Fanatec gear. TX drops the clutch pedal and there is no h-pattern or sequential (hand) shifters, just the damn flappy paddles which I only use with F1....not that Ive played it for many moons.
I understand that this is a whole new generation of gaming, so there are going to be some changes. But the TX just doesn't cut it in my book and ill be crying (lol) each lap of Bathurst I do with a controller.

Re: Fanatec compatability - Xbox One
Hi Mr Mitch...
Good luck with EBay, I think at this point you may have any potential buyers sitting on the fence till xbone's released and any PC or PS3 buyers waiting to try and pick up a bargin if it's not comparable.
I'm sitting on the fence till I know either way!. If not compatable, then I'm probally move to PC, and look at Project cars for my Bathurst fix.
I think the general feel is that they will work on XBone, but it might take awhile to get a USB converter or something filter down the line.
