Was a pretty mad drive from last to podium by Jamie he made everyone look like they where standing still really. And to do 29 laps or something on the softs AND the quickest lap on the last lap a pretty darn good effort and worthy and some respect.
That's all I ask for is a little bit of respect.

Re: 2012 V8 Supercars Discussion
Well done to JW, a great season from him and how many times has CL come second in the championship? stupid pit stacking costing him again.
anyway been a superb season from the Voda crew, they will prob get better with Red Bull backing them next year id say.
however the 4 manufacturers could throw all sorts of curveballs next year, im expecting all sorts of Holden & Ford restrictions so the other 2 can be competitive right from the get go.
Shall wait and see.
Hope JW does well at the Champions Tourney!
4 times champ is a huge achievement for the sport, well done to him.
...OH and CL is 2 wins from being the all time race wins leader from Mark Skaife

I liked how Lowndesy went mad as soon as Whincup got a drive through. They obviously let him loose to try hassle the ford boys up the front and keep them in check to help the #1 car in catching up. He just flicked the switch and went for a few laps was good to see.

Get your hand off it teeroy, thats nearly as good as saying the VE Commodore is "the most successful touring car ever" - Only took 20 years to bet the Cosworth Sierra (oh, and that won on merit against other real cars)
Even then its only because Holden haven't reselected any new models in the last few years.
On a races started to wins its the 32GT-R
On total wins (Globally) its the BWM E30 or the Sierra
As for next year and "expecting all sorts of Holden & Ford restrictions" both current manufactures will still be using there dinosaur 5.0 Pushrod V8 - Both of which have not been in a production car since the late 90's - it's beyond me why Ford aren't switching to the Coyote.
Just a reminder, there new competition just happens to have some of the richest motor racing history's out there.
When it comes to motorsport and Nissan is basically built on it.
And Mercedes...... Are German.

Van Gisbergen Announces Exit From V8 Supercars
STONE Brothers Racing has agreed to release Shane van Gisbergen, driver for the #9 SP Tools Racing Team, following his expressed desire to leave V8 Supercars due to personal reasons.
Van Gisbergen’s current contract expires at the end of the 2012 season and a new three year contract was signed earlier in the year, which would have seen van Gisbergen stand as the longest serving driver at SBR.
Last week van Gisbergen communicated to the team that he wished to leave V8 Supercars and after much discussion SBR have agreed that it is in Shane’s best interest to release him from contract.
Statement from Shane van Gisbergen regarding his future in V8 Supercars:
“Today I am announcing that I will be leaving Stone Brothers Racing and the sport of V8 Supercars.
"Contrary to media reports, I do not wish to race for another V8 Supercar team and my decision to leave the sport has in no way been caused by Ross and Jimmy’s decision to switch manufacturers in 2013 or the team's partnership with Erebus Motorsport.
“I am leaving V8 Supercars due to personal reasons which I do not wish to discuss in the public domain. I will be moving back home to New Zealand and have no fixed plans for the future.
“I have enjoyed five successful years with Stone Brothers Racing and was given a unique opportunity by the team to race V8s at a very young age, which I am very grateful for.
“I would like to take this opportunity to thank Ross, Jimmy, my sponsors and my team for the time and money they invested in me during my V8 career,” said van Gisbergen.
Team Principal, Ross Stone:
“SBR are disappointed to be losing such an exceptional talent and while there has been much speculation in the media regarding the reasons behind Shane wanting to leave, it is not for want of driving for another V8 team.
“Shane’s motives to quit the sport are private and SBR have agreed that the best way forward for all parties is to release Shane from his current three year contract.
“Major sponsor of the #9 SP Tools Racing Falcon, SP Tools, and SBR’s relationship will not be affected by Shane’s departure from the team and they will continue the three year contract they currently have.
“This decision will also not in any way affect the newly formed partnership between SBR and Erebus Motorsport, nor will it have any impact on the current sponsorship contracts we have.”
“At this point in time we are not in a position to say who the replacement driver for the #9 car will be, but this will be announced before the start of the 2013 season.”
“I ask that the media and public give Shane and his family the privacy they require at this time,” said Stone.
Van Gisbergen will race his final V8 Supercars race at the final round of the Championship Series at the Sydney Telstra 500 on Sunday 2nd December.

quick, hit him up for a drive in the OZFM V8's for next year!!
sad to see, he was an up and coming legend of the game who looked like winning a lot of races. Not the last we will see of him i think.
Maybe hes another Kiwi lured by cash to join the AFL?

Triple eight get a new sponsor and they will "get better"? That's like saying if Usain Bolt got a new sponsor he will start running faster.

Awww man gizzy was one of my favourite drivers to watch. Especially when it started getting wet. The young fellas got some talent and i hope he returns at a later date after he has had some time to sort out whatever has taken him away from the sport. All the best to him in his future endeavours whatever they may be.

Sorry man
clarification on getting better = Red Bull will throw more money into a new venture compared to Vodaphone's old venture so i think RB will want to make an impact right away against 3 other manufacturers.
So if Usain Bolt was a machine, then yes with new sponsor and more access to cash for testing research and development, then yes he could run faster in the long term.

Triple Eight don chrome livery to farewell Vodafone
Jamie Whincup and Craig Lowndes will compete in a special chrome livery to mark Triple Eight’s final V8 Supercars race with support from Vodafone.
V8 champ-elect Whincup and Lowndes unveiled the all-chrome livery with red wheels in Sydney today.
Triple Eight farewells six-year sponsor Vodafone this weekend, with energy drink giant Red Bull set to take over as the team’s major backer in 2013.
Triple Eight has competed as TeamVodafone since 2007 and has enjoyed 135 podium finishes, 84 of those race wins. The team also boasts 48 pole positions and a win ratio of 46.15 percent. That success includes four Bathurst 1000 wins and four driver’s championships.
“This is a fitting livery to close out the TeamVodafone era,” said Whincup, who wrapped up the 2012 V8 Supercars crown at Winton recently.
“We’ve had huge success working with Vodafone and I personally really want to say thank you by delivering a win in the final race.”
Lowndes says he would love to close out the season with a win.
“I love the livery, it is very much like the McLaren Formula 1 car,” Lowndes said.
“It will be our last event as TeamVodafone so it is going to be a sad weekend but hopefully we can finish the 2012 season on a high.”
While Whincup has wrapped up the title, Lowndes remains a chance to snatch second in the series. He currently is in third place, just 63 points shy of Ford Performance Racing’s Mark Winterbottom.
The final event of the 2012 V8 Supercars Championship Series will get underway on Friday with four practice sessions. Saturday’s on track action will include qualifying, the top 10 shootout and Race 29.

Sweet, I just bought a Saturday only GA ticket so fingers crossed I get to see it run. If not I guess I'll just hurl myself in front of a train on the way home.
