What a great race it was yesterday
Shame that lowndsey was taken out. It would of been a TV 1-2 if that hadn't of happened.
Also what about J-DUB, he even had time to do a victory burnout mid race

Yeah the racing was good, shame about Moff though.
Worked his way to 12th only to be turned around by Premat early on, this wasn't in the telecast. Got back to 14th before GT spun him.

Re: 2012 V8 Supercars Discussion
Triple Eight’s First Bathurst Winner Restored:
TRIPLE Eight Race Engineering’s first Bathurst-winning car has been restored back to the specification and livery that it carried when Craig Lowndes and Jamie Whincup took it to victory in the emotion-packed 2006 Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 - the first race since the death of Peter Brock in September of the year.
The car – chassis 888-010 – was the fourth car produced by Triple Eight and remains one of the most successful chassis produced by the Queensland-based team.
“It was our first-ever race winning car with Craig at Eastern Creek in 2005,” team boss Roland Dane told BigPond Sport.
“It won a few more times that year and obviously also was the Bathurst-winning car in ’06. It was the first car to win for us in Vodafone colours with Jamie at Winton in ’07 and that’s why I’ve always kept it.
“I rented it out to someone to do Bathurst (Jesus Racing in 2009) and it came back in a very sorry state so it’s been rebuilt from the ground up. It’s better than new.
“We kept a Ford C3 cylinder head engine, a H-pattern gearbox and all of the right suspension that it used when it ran.”
The car also is a part of V8 Supercar history for a range of other reasons.
It won the Sandown 500 in 2005 with Lowndes and Yvan Muller (the Frenchman becoming the first European driver to win an ATCC/V8SC race) before Lowndes took pole at Bathurst in the car only to be hit in the windscreen by an errant wheel from Paul Dumbrell’s crashed Castrol Holden.
Lowndes used the car to finish runner-up to Russell Ingall in the 2005 championship and then raced it again in 2006 for the majority of the season.
The Kid’ had his last drive in it on the Gold Coast (a fortnight after the glorious Bathurst win, the first for Ford in seven years) and it was then turned over to Whincup for Symmons Plains.
A multi-car wreck put Whincup out for the weekend in Tasmania and the chassis was sidelined for the rest of the season before being updated to BF spec and returned in new Vodafone colours for 2007.
Whincup used it in the first half of the season, including taking victory in Race 1 at Winton from 20th on the grid (and ultimately the round) before it became the #888 entry that he and Lowndes used to win the Sandown 500 – the last time the iconic Melbourne event was run before its rebirth this year.
Chassis 888-010 became a spare for the rest of 2007 and was called upon again in 2008 for Lowndes to drive at Eastern Creek and Albert Park after an accident in Adelaide in his newer car.
It last raced in 2009 at Phillip Island and Bathurst in the hands of David Sieders and Andrew Fisher.
“Gary Bailey worked on the car back in the day when it ran and has been working very hard on it for the last six months, but longer than that in total while now fitting in around a day job,” says Dane.
The restored car, resplendent in its #888 Team Betta Electrical livery from Bathurst 2006, will roll out onto Queensland Raceway on April 11 at a Dunlop Series test day with Whincup at the wheel for a quick shakedown.
“I think Jamie will just make sure it’s all OK and the test day and do five or six laps,” says Dane.
It will then be sent to the National Motor Racing Museum at Mount Panorama, Bathurst to go on display and no doubt will feature strongly in the 50 Years of Bathurst celebration in October.
Dane has no plans to sell the car.

REVEALED: Nissan’s V8 Supercars platform launched:
Nissan has unveiled its all-new Altima – the car set to be the basis of the Japanese giants’ assault on the V8 Supercars Championship next year.
The revealing of the new car at the New York Motor Show this morning (Australian time) coincides with confirmation that Nissan Australia will enter the medium car segment with the Altima. The car will replace the Maxima and will arrive in Australian showrooms in the second half of 2013.
The Altima was unveiled in New York by Nissan Motor Company CEO Carlos Ghosn. He was joined at the motor show by Kelly Racing’s co-owner and driver Rick Kelly, as well as the team’s CEO John Crennan.
Kelly Racing will enter four Nissan Altimas in next year’s V8 Supercars Championship, reforming the Nissan Motorsport team in Australia.
The new Nissan Altima will make for a sleeker race car, compared to its Ford Falcon and Holden Commodore rivals
The new Altima is the fifth generation of the model, but it will be the first time it has been sold in Australia.
Nissan Australia CEO Bill Peffer hopes the car’s entry into the V8 Supercars Championship will increase awareness ahead of its on-sale date.
“The new Altima is already the second most successful passenger sedan in the USA with sales of more than 20,000 per month,” said Nissan Australia CEO Bill Peffer.
“Its appearance in Australia will be a strategic boost to our ever improving passenger car line up and will offer a compelling alternative to the familiar products in this segment.
“Altima will also raise the bar in motorsport as Nissan’s entry in the 2013 V8 Supercar Championship where it will introduce modern generation sedan styling and technology.”
Compared to V8 Supercars’ current entrants – the Ford Falcon and the Holden Commodore – the Altima’s smaller size and sleeker shape will give the category’s technical department a major task in ensuring the aerodynamic performance of the three cars are equal. To achieve this, V8 Supercars could take the cars off-shore for a wind tunnel aerodynamics testing program.

Re: 2012 V8 Supercars Discussion
CHRYSLER has backflipped on plans to join the V8 Supercar series next year.
Nissan had already announced plans to break the Holden-Ford duopoly on the series from next year, and Chrysler had been in negotiations with Garry Rogers Motorsport to also become part of V8 racing.
The manufacturer had indicated as recently as the Clipsal 500 in Adelaide earlier this month they were keen to be part of the series in 2013.
But Chrysler Australia's US parent company has decided against financial support for the bid, meaning there are unlikely to be more than three manufacturers on the V8 grid for next year.
``Essentially at this point in our organisational development it doesn't make financial sense,'' Chrysler Australia spokesperson Lenore Fletcher told website V8x.com.au on Friday.
``When you work it out on a dollar-per-vehicle basis and you look at what you have to spend in terms of supporting and promoting your commitment, it just makes it very difficult and high cost.''
But Chrysler told the online magazine they might consider another bid for the series from 2014 onwards.
V8 chairman Tony Cochrane has said the series was keen to eventually have five manufacturers involved

FIRST PICS: D’Alberto reveals new look, sponsor
Tony D’Alberto will compete with major backing from HIFLEX Mobile Hose Service for the remaining events in the 2012 V8 Supercars Championship.
After joining the team as the windscreen sponsor in March, HIFLEX Mobile Hose Service upped the ante, taking position on the doors and front and rear bar of the #3 Ford Falcon FG.
The deal with HIFLEX Mobile Hose Service will be launched at this weekend’s ITM400 Hamilton – the last V8 Supercars race on the New Zealand street circuit.
HIFLEX is the mobile supply and service division of Alfagomma Australia – a privately-owned world leader in the development of hose, fittings and assembly systems.
D’Alberto is pleased to have new support for the balance of 2012.
“It is certainly great for us to HIFLEX as a major sponsor involved with our team for the remainder of 2012,” said D’Alberto.
“The new deal gives the team the same look and feel for the rest of the season and are looking forward to showing them what V8 Supercars is all about.
“I’ve had some good results at Hamilton in the past and we’re pretty confident that we’ll be in a competitive position this weekend.”

The 2012 V8 Supercars calendar has received a shake-up.
Speedcafe.com wrote:
Speedcafe.com understands that Winton’s event will be moved from August to November, becoming the new penultimate event.
It is unclear what track, if any, will replace Winton’s August date. Eastern Creek Raceway has been mooted as a possible venue for the August date, but this was denied by Eastern Creek’s management when contacted by Speedcafe.com.
The V8 Supercars Championship has not competed on the recently redesigned Eastern Creek since 2008.
The V8 Supercars conducted its ‘free-to-the-public’ pre-season test at Eastern Creek in 2011. Over 10,000 people visited the circuit for that one-day test.
The changes to the 2012 calendar come after V8 Supercars’ attempts to secure an off-shore event, coupled with the Abu Dhabi round, appear to have failed.
Confirmation of the revised 2012 calendar is expected to be announced on Sunday.

It would be great to have Eastern Creek back but moving Winton to November is not good. Only because it means I would not be able to got to it if it's on the 9-11th.

http://www.speedcafe.com/2012/05/03/engine-rule-changes-in-place-for-barbagallo/ wrote:
Engine rule changes in place for Barbagallo
V8 Supercars has moved to stamp-out complex fuel saving techniques by adding to its technical regulations in time for this weekend’s Trading Post Perth Challenge.
The category closely monitored the activities of its teams at the previous event in Hamilton following concern that the widespread push for increased fuel economy has the potential to drive up costs.
As previously explained by Speedcafe.com, several teams are understood to have been experimenting with the practice of varying fuel pressure to coincide with engine revs in order to save fuel under braking and part-throttle.
Methods for achieving such a goal include alternating between different fuel regulators and manipulating the operation of the fuel pumps.
In what is expected to be the first phase of the crackdown, switching between a maximum of two fuel pressure regulators now “must be the only method of controlling the fuel pressure to the engine,” while “no system however described is permitted to vary the fuel pressure from its nominal value during any session or race.”
The wording of the regulations should leave the fuel trim switch, which was introduced last year in order to discourage teams from devising their own methods of consumption adjustment, as the sole mechanical device for manipulating fuel burn rates mid-race.
While unchanged for Barbagallo, it is understood that the rules regarding the trim switch could be tightened for future races. Currently, the four pre-set trim switch positions must sit within a 20 percent window, with no minimum or maximum values defined.
Ford Performance Racing’s technical director Campbell Little, who is a member of V8 Supercars’ Engine Technical Advisory Panel, says that how the rules affect different teams will be something to look out for this weekend.
“It won’t affect us because it’s not a game we’ve been playing, but it’ll be interesting to see if others are affected by it,” Little told Speedcafe.com.
“I think with the end game in site, these rules are saving people from themselves in all honesty.”
Three 120km races will take place at Barbagallo this weekend.
IMO this;
is a huge conflict of interest and he should stand down from his position on the panel.Ford Performance Racing’s technical director Campbell Little, who is a member of V8 Supercars’ Engine Technical Advisory Panel

No, not really - the sport is run by the members in it. And FPR would only be one of X members on the Engine Technical Advisory Panel.
T8 and HRT would have members in there too.
If they add this then all they need to do is fix the soft tyre, it should last 15 laps tops
