The fanatec wheel is the ultimate, if you can afford and get hold of one. They cost BIG BUCKS $800 AUS with the pedal set! We have an importer in Aus (pagnian imports) who brought in 50 (all sold) but is finding it hard to get any more. Don't know if you can buy them in NZ you'll need to check it out. If you can get one in NZ let me know where, I might be interested.
Otherwise your only chance is if you know someone in the UK/Europe or USA who can buy one for you and then get it shipped to you.
Alternatively you buy the MS wheel if you can get hold of one, seems the supply is a bit scarce in OZ. Cost about $120-180 AUS. They have some small problems and can be frustrating sometimes. But they're still a great way to drive a racing game .
You can also get a Joytech wheel, only thing I know about them is that Reapr broke one in 2 days.
Cheers

Actually there is a few xbox 360 wheels available which as wolfy said range in price.
Mad Catz2 Variable price from $50 to $200
Microsoft Xbox wheel Above $200 on ebay of late.
Fanatec Turbo S $800
Joytech $50
Logitech Fx aerial $200
My pick would be the Logitech Fx aerial but that's me otherwise the microsoft one is next best with affordability taken into account. Although recently mine broke and got lucky on ebay with one for $150.
Good luck hunting for these.
Did I mention there is a new microsoft wheel coming... Or so I have been lead to believe, No release date as yet...

Stop it Sleuth, you'll get me all excited. I've heard rumours and been wondering whether M$ might be working on a new wheel for a while. Specially since the current one is getting harder to find.
Do you have any info on the alleged new M$ wheel at all mate?

Hmmmm, black, that'll make all the difference. Hope they come up with something more than a new colour scheme, like closer to the quality of the G25 and G27 wheels.
Sounds like it'll be a little while before we know more, keep us informed if you hear anything. Maybe a Christmas release if we're lucky (This is how you start rumours, lol).
Meantime I better find something to calm me down.

Re: F1 2010 The Game
i dont have anything against controller users, there are really good racers out there who use just the standard controller and give wheel users a run.
something i cant do with a standard controller thats for sure.
i'll put it down to just being to used to my wheel as thats the way ive always played racing games.. even the arcadey NFS type games etc..
as i understand it racing games usually program extra code into handling for standard controllers to make it less horrible to drive, which usually translates to overstreer and stability control.
those setups could be translated to a standard controller but you would need to tweak the mechanical grip side of things to make them useful.
this is only hypothesizing of course since i refuse to even try a normal controller on race games.

Re: F1 2010 The Game
I think its just this particular game Fetal, I use the controller no worries on Forza but I can't use it at all on F1, I have to use my crappy wheel with no force feedback, funny enough that same wheel is undriveable on Forza 3 (due to said lack of force feedback)
Also I had a quick look at those setups, good on ya for posting them & they must be fun to drive but where's all the downforce lol!!??
I'll have to send ya another FR, there'll be a bunch of us doing custom GP's tonight i'd imagine...

the setups posted are mainly for the time trial mode, where tires run at 100%, the track offers its maximum grip (for that track) each car is
at its peak performance and fuel load is ignored.
they can be used in career mode but they would need to be adjusted to be a little less psycho on the tyres (unless you play career with tire sim off).
you can notice a difference going from option (green ring) to prime (harder) tyres in handling.

Umm, it is, it even has its own folder.
Does every one want it out of the folder and with the other games?

As you said Dazza F1 2010 is in the other games forum.
Having its own folder makes it easier to separate from the other "other" games, which I think would suit most members.
Recommend you leave it where it is.

this is good stuff, certainly improving the game from where it stands right now as ok for multiplay, but shite for single play...just ask Sleuthy!

Re: F1 2010 The Game
Yeah I've noticed there's hardly anybody online to race against. I got sick of the various annoying bugs and haven't bothered to play it in weeks. I'll give it another go when the patch comes out and see how it goes but imo Forza is still better

That's exactly how I feel at the moment too, I'll probably get back into F1 once they fix up some of the bugs, like the pit hold, the lap time glitches where people go 30 seconds faster than anyone else & the random disappearing racing line.

the forza 3 game engine.

Re: F1 2010 The Game
There was an announcement on the Codemasters F1 forum 26th October, that they've finished internal testing of the patch and its been submitted to M$ and Sony.
When its been ok'd they'll release it for download.
