Re: F1 2010 The Game
Cool game!!!
spent 1h or two on a few tracks, big learning curve
Watch out for the Quick online game section, which is the same as "open room"
Full on crash dummies, you need to go the Custom Grand Prix, and set the race condition of Private to Closed, (friends only)
I will spend next Wednesday night online with F1, if anyone interested well try and make a full grid (12) and run some laps on the new tracks

Wow, these things fly. Custom mapping of the controller helps too. Gunna get the wheel out on the weekend and have a go.

How about the important question? Can you paint the cars yourself?

Re: F1 2010 The Game
Well I played F1 this afternoon, and thought I would post my thoughts...
Great game, I little confusing in the navigation at first, but then it all comes together. Not quite sure why there is different career modes. 3 years 7 years etc, but sure it will make sence soon enough.
Can not see anywhere to customise the livery.
Will it replace Forza, nope, not in my opinion.
But will privide some enterainment for sure. I think it is worth adding to my collection of racing games, and worth the $89 I paid.

Re: F1 2010 The Game
the different years are for those who wanna either jump into a top team straight away or if they wanna work their way up from a lower team. and of course u cant put custom livery on it would be against the license. Bernie Fecklestone wouldnt allow that the tight Very Bad Man!

Ratel wrote:How about the important question? Can you paint the cars yourself?
Nope, No paints and only very limited helmet colour selection. All to do with the licencing of the franchise.
This game is about racing F1 cars and thats that.
My personal first impressions after one day of intro play:
The game is well designed.
Different modes so you can time trial, do separate races or run multiple F1 championship series.
Car rendering, performance, handling, track rendering (contours, bumps, etc) is excellent.
AI play is good, various strengths, skills, aggression.
Online, only had a quick run with RU and a couple of guys from USA. Reckon it'll do what we want for solid F1 style racing, once we work out how to set up rooms, races, etc. Allows a field of 12 players online.
Excellent driving experience and force feedback using the M$ wheel.
Knowing tracks and driving smoothly will be essential to beating the AI on anything above "amateur" difficulty.
Buy F1 2010 if you really like F1 and you really like racing games.

Re: F1 2010 The Game
Some interesting gaming with F10.
Just what I have been looking for in a racing game F1 Style...(Still love my Forza But as a racer have been looking for a racing game for some time that could be compared on a racing level with Forza, And F10 IMO is the only racing game available at this time that comes even close)
Hopefully this game will have some of it's game content used in other future racing game's.
Such as Qualifying setup, both career and online(awsome).
Track grip levels, Weather, Tyres, pit stops. Track's....
Oh and yep manual transmission helps with braking, but you are busy with the gear changes.

I'll see if I can make it for a few. But I really need A LOT more time in the cars and on the tracks before any serious online races. So I'll probably be there testing the crash barriers.

They changed Silverstone this year for the MotoGp and F1 races. Took out a couple of classic corners and stuck in a new section, supposed to be for "entertainment". Not sure the F1 drivers liked it much though.
I noticed that the contours and corner shapes on Suzuka are a lot different in F1 than in FM3 as well.
Reckon it'll be different on Catalunya too.
I also need a lot more time to get a decent feel for driving the cars. I'm using cornering line as the only assist. So far the car feels better at getting the power down than most cars in FM3, even with TC turned off (dry track - I haven't run wet weather yet). How are you guys finding the traction on the cars, problems or easy?

Re: F1 2010 The Game
Been running with all assists off (except for auto tranny) and the cars hardly spin out in the dry if you don't do anything stupid. Jumping the kerbs at Sakhir is an easy way to spin out as is the same for most tracks.
Also, you don't want to be caught out on track in slicks when there's a light rain/spitting going on, you will end up facing the wrong way after every corner.

Re: F1 2010 The Game
traction in 1st and 2nd is hard to find, if you get it wrong you wheel spin all the way into fourth then it almost boggs down when it does get traction.....
thats with no assits (i find it alot easier)
I found that tyres played a big part, you could definatly feel the grip improve as the temp came up in them, option tyre had shit load more grip....
but i think its got more to do with learning the tracks and knowing when you can get on the throtle without doing 360's lol....
but yeah you dont have much time to gather things back up if you are doing a wee drift, all off a sudden you end up pointing the wrong way
going to be some good racing when every1 gets up to speed though!

I actually really like Sakhir lol It's challenging but when I started to get into the flow of it it was rewarding.
I'll be up for some racing tonight for sure.
