Ideas For a New League

I'm starting this thread so that everyone can post thier ideas for a new league. Don't have to include the entire set of rules as this can be figured out in the weeks to come but give us your ideas so we can see what everyone wants to do.

My sugestion is an EVO league, have run one of these in FM2 with a clan i used to be with and it was hugely popular. It goes like this.

All participants pick a car, can be any car as long as it meets the restrictions put in place. What happens is we run 2 races in say C class, then 2 races in B class and finally 2 races in A class. Drivers have to use the same car in all 3 classes, so the importance of finding a car that runs well in all 3 classes cannot be stressed enough. The series doesn't have to be C,B,A they were just used as examples, it could be anything. These races were awesome and ended up being really close as the cars that dominated in C weren't so good in A, so the importance of finding a car that is happy to run in all 3 classes is going to be the dominating factor.

These are my thoughts.

My idea (which was mentioned prev) was a little hatchback series - Fiesta, Abarth kind of thing. Give a list of cars that can be used (maybe 4-5) and allow them to be upgraded to maybe E or D class. I'm not sure on the standard vs non-standard tune.
Tracks would be Amalfi Coast, hill climbs, etc. and maybe some odd ones thrown in for something different.

Now we just have to have time for all these races! (V8s, producations cars, Integra series all coming soon too).

My idea is to have a series split into 3 ability levels. Each running their own class level. It wouldn't matter if the levels aren't full as I believe we would need three so that people aren't stuck in a group that leaves them in their dust every race.

The levels would be decided by three round qualifying. Everyone would post their lap times done in a stock, pre-decided car. \

On each track the position you get would give you that many points, i.e; 1 point for first 2 for second etc.

After all three tracks have been done we would add up the results giving a final total which would determine the order for series allocation with the lowest scores being the best, like in golf.

The Qualy tracks I would suggest are;
Positano Full (B Class)
Maple Valley full (S Class)
Motegi Oval (R1 Class)

For the races themselves, I'd like to see everyone who enters suggest 5 tracks they'd like and we could choose the 8 highest scoring suggestions.
In keeping with the 3 ability levels I suggest the top group running a minimum 200km, the second 125km and the third group doing 75km. We would use the 2009 F1 scoring for races. For the prizes I think an entry fee of $30,000 with the eventual winner getting 50% of their groups pool, second place getting 30% and 3rd getting 15% in each class, with whatever's left going to the next series prize pool.

My vote too would have to be an EVO league as well. The series me and manic did with ITR was the best series on Forza I have ever been involved in. The strategy that is involved in it is unrivalled. Choosing a car that will perform in all classes is hard enough. But also one that performs on all tracks is the key. The league when we did it had an evo, a 350z, a sti, an integra, an m3, an R32 Golf and skyline plus many others. So as you can see there is alot of variety involved. Each car has its own strengths and weaknesses with the ideal being a middle ground where consistant performance won the championship.

Any EVO league would be cool, i like the idea of taking them through the class's.

The evo idea sounds good and I'd be up for it.

What car classes is hard to say. Probably be interesting regardless, if you pick the right tracks.

Something to think about is, we've got proposals for a few different series already.

GSTQ is doing a D class comp.
Mitch is looking at C class.
And is there anyone who doesn't want V8 supercar to happen?
Not to mention the hot lap comp, starting in February, different class each month.

Maybe running the evo using C, B and A will fit in ok.

If we're running across three classes does that mean the comp runs for three weeks?

Evo comp sounds pretty interesting, though I imagine anything with strategy involved is probably going to see me fail . I'd like to give it a go though but yeah, as iWolf pointed out, there is a lot of potential comps coming so I will hang about to see when these are all gonna be on before committing to anything.

agreed, anyone who is proposing to do a league should post about it, then everyone can vote on what they want to do, and the most popular ones can be made into the official ones.

iWolf the evo league ran for 6 weeks. We had two races in each class. one technical track and a simpler track. In the final class we had an enduro where as the rest of them were "sprint" rounds i.e. two or three races per round.

I'm not suggesting that all this stuff needs to start in the next few days, we can fit stuff in down the track. I would just like to get an idea from everyone as to what interests them. I would however like to get some sort of schedule set up so members can see what is coming up and when.

This is all stuff that can be figured out over the next few weeks. If it needs to be things will be put to a vote, however i'd like to think that we can find time to run most of the events that people want to run.

At this stage, looks like the EVO League will make a appearance somewhwere down the track.

Wolf. In answer to your question. No the series would run for at least 6 weeks, 2 weeks in each class and 3 classes so probably 6 rounds. The structure would be like this

One race for each class would be made up of 2-3 sprint races at
the same track. The other race for each class would be a longer
enduro type race. Both races in each class will be the same approx
length just different formats. The length of the races will probably
get a little longer as we go up in class.

Hope this makes it a little clearer.

I was thinking for somthing a little smaller that wouldnt really have a set time or date.

A P2P series, with only 2 people racing at any given time.
These "showdowns" could be done at a time during the week that suits both parties.

Maybe even have like a EVO series flavor in that we all chose a car before hand that would be a happy medium between kaido, nurburgring and positano (sp?) and stick with that for the duration of the series.

Have it like a round robin type thing, were we randomly race against each person 1 by 1. Once we all have raced everyone it would go into a finals stage where the top drivers would race off to determine which would be 1st/2nd/3rd/4th.

I suggest the 1 vs 1 idea because i think racing more than 2 people over a P2P wouldnt really work unless we base it on times rather the coming first.

Another idea could be a (real life) Drift type format minus, As in we make 2 passes alternating the lead from the start, so that the racers get equal chance out in front.
If both times the chaser cannot make a pass, then have a 3rd head to head starting at the same time with the winner the victor.


I havnt really thought this idea through but i just figured id mention it as i dont see that much love for the P2P's.

We could also run some touge type events P2P with staggered starts, one person starts first then next race the other. add the two times together and you have your winner

I normally have about 5 guys doing that in the V8 series.

That would be the hard part, i bet coming down only takes stuff all time.
