1976 - Formula 1 'RUSH' Season
1976 was a defining year for Formula 1 and its drivers as Niki Lauda & James Hunt's rivalry hit fever pitch.
The world was amazed when Niki Lauda jumped back into the cockpit of his Scuderia Ferrari for the Italian Grand Prix after his horrifying crash at the Nűrburgring less than 6 weeks prior.
Hollywood has recently given us the brilliant movie 'Rush' which focuses on these great drivers and this season in particular.
Relive 5 races from this iconic season with 3 unique vehicles to choose from...
CARS - builds to be determined
- Scuderia Ferrari 312T2 - Niki Lauda -
- Team McLaren M23 - James Hunt -
- Team Lotus 77 - Mario Andretti -
CIRCUITS - dates to be determined based on series interest
Week 1 - 1976 Round 3 Long Beach - TBA
Week 2 - 1976 Round 9 Brands Hatch - GP
Week 3 - 1976 Round 10 Nűrburgring - Nordschleife
Week 4 - 1976 Round 13 Monza - Full
Week 5 - 1976 Round 15 Watkins Glen - Full Alt
2 Standalone time-attacks will be run over the length of the series (separate to normal time attack series, just for those within this series) for additional championship points at Bathurst & Spa. (Point system TBA)
All further series info TBA

Re: 1976 F1 Series info
Thinking of having this as a Sunday evening series starting mid-late February.
Format.. 2 races 20-25mins, qualifying before 1st race, reverse finish order for 2 second race.
Thoughts?

Re: 1976 F1 Series info
Before you decide on the night and time please look at all the other events being run for OZFM members both on Forza and Project Cars.
Project Cars has 1 night only which is run on Sunday nights when we resume with our new RUF Cup end of this month.
There are a number of members racing on both titles, and I'm one that would hate to have to decide between the RUF Cup or this series.
I would suggest not to overload the racing as well.
Currently we have running or soon to be:-
Sunday - RUF Cup (Project CARS)
Monday - Upcoming GT Series (Forza 6)
Tuesday - Clio's (Forza 6)
Thursday- Casual night (Previously run by Stu but no longer as I'm aware so could be a free night)
Friday - Club Racing (Forza 6 - Amateur and Pro-Am drivers only at this stage)
Saturday - NGTC (Forza 6)
So maybe wait until the NGTC finish in 2 weeks time (January 23rd), and start this series then which will be the 30th January?

Re: 1976 F1 Series info
Thanks for the heads up Neilo. Sorry, completely had my blinkers on with respect to Project Cars schedule.
Happy to push the series to whatever day in whichever month so as not to over-crowd the schedule.

Re: 1976 F1 Series info
Is there any series run on a Saturday night? This should see the light of day or night! From the look of it there was some interest running this.
Maybe give it a head start with a time attack around Monza without chicane?

Re: 1976 F1 Series info
Current thinking is to push this to June/July so as not to overlap with other single seat formula series running at the moment (formula mazda).
