AWD Series - Info and Sign Up
Welcome to the OZFM AWD Series, this series has been developed as a "filler" as we prepare for the next V8 Series. The cars have been chosen to allow "out of the box" a relatively easy car to drive while also giving the tuners and builders a chance to be a bit flexible and creative in the way they build the cars. I would also encourage those tuners and builders to share their ideas with those on the forum that either don't have the time to spend, or the knowledge to develop the car.
There are a few new ideas being trialled in this series, I would appreciate feedback after the series to help future series planning.
Can you all please read and understand the following links, ask questions and make suggestions.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
All Entrants are expected to Follow [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]. (please read)
The Cars
The cars "should" be closely matched, however as this series allows for differing build components, we may need to restrict some cars to be used by the "slower" half of the entry list or in some cases exclude the car from the series. I do know of at least one car that may fall in to this category.
B Class
Maximum Power 223Kw
Minimum Curb Weight 1180kg
Car must be manufactured between the years 1992 and 1999
Must be originally AWD and remain AWD,
Must be no engine, drivetrain or aspiration modifications.
Mandatory Upgrades;
Forza front and rear aero.
Race tires.

Calendar of Events
Pre Season Testing - 17/06/2014
This week will give drivers a chance to test their builds, try a few different cars, and possibly show us any stand out cars that may need restricting/revising.
Exhibition and Qualifying for Round 1 - Road America West - 24/06/2014
Exhibition - This will allow drivers to show their skills in race conditions without the risk of missing out on some points or ruining their championship.
Qualifying - There will ONLY be one qualifying night for the first round, you miss this one you will NOT submit a time for the first round and in the event there is more than one lobby, you will start the series in the bottom lobby. Sorry if this sounds harsh, but if you sign up for a Tuesday night Series then you race/qualify on Tuesday nights. It is time consuming enough to sort out results and to wait for a couple to submit times just adds to the delay in releasing results for others, it is just not fair on them.
Each Qualifying session brings with it Qualifying points, these have no relation to the series championships points. Qualifying points will be used for the final round to "hopefully" bring the best of the best together.
The Series
The following circuits/layouts have been chosen to suit the cars and allow for pit stops should the need arise. Each night will consist of a set of 3 races at each circuit and a qualifying session at the circuit for the next week. For example, Round 2 will have 3 races at Longbeach East followed by a qualifying session at Silverstone National. The qualifying sessions will determine the lobby allocations for the following week, with the exeption of round 5. Round 5 lobby allocation will be a combination of all previous qualifying sessions.
Round 1 - Road Atlanta Club - 01/07/2014
Round 2 - LongBeach East - 08/07/2014
Round 3 - Silverstone National - 15/07/2014
Round 4 - Yas North Alt - 22/07/2014
Round 5 - Mystery Flight - 29/07/2014 (Extra Championship Points will be on offer for this round)
This round will feature a mystery circuit, only to be released the morning (before midday) of the round. The lobbies will be determined by an accumulation of points awarded throughout the series during the qualifying sessions. More info on this can be found [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
Pit Stops
Each round will contain at least 1 race with a mandatory pit stop. This will be indicated in the round thread prior to the event.
Restarts
Drivers are expected to show caution during the race, restarts will only be called on the formation lap or the first lap of the race, and only due to lag outs.
Drivers who are at fault for causing damage another car during the formation lap will be required to start from the pit lane, thus forfeiting their position from qualifying, they may not start until all other cars have passed.
In the event of multiple cars requiring a pit lane start they must line up at pit exit in the order in which they qualified (fastest in front). They must still wait until all grid start cars have passed.
Safety Car Rules
Safety cars are called if there is a serious enough incident to warrant one (3+ cars or a massive hit)
If a safety car is called Drivers may complete the lap they are on at race pace, but no passing may occur. If a driver chooses to pit at the end of this lap they are welcome too and acknowledge that they may lose track position in doing so. Pitting in the manner will count towards you mandatory pit stop count. A full lap will be completed under safety car conditions post this opportunity.
Safety car conditions require a maximum pace of 80km/h (50mph).
Drivers are able to pit during safety car periods, and they will count towards your mandatory pit stop.
If a driver who does not have damage decides to pit during a safety car period, they accept that they may lose positions due to this pit stop. The "No Overtaking during safety car" rules will still apply. Any positions lost due to this pit stop are not reclaimable under safety car conditions.
Drivers are able to un-lap themselves during a safety car period.
All safety car restarts are done at the discretion of the leading driver. Once they put the power down then it is the responsibility of the field to react and accelerate also.
The lead driver may accelerate at any point past the start/finish line. The field should be backed up enough for this to not effect those running at the back too much.Championship Points
There will be 1 championship leaderboard for the entire driver line up (similar to the OMCM), there will also be a second leaderboard used this series, drivers who compete in the second lobby and never make it to the top lobby will fight for the Development Award. Once a driver qualifies for the top lobby they will no longer be eligible for the Development Award. This is not to encourage sandbagging, more to encourage those members that try each week and just either don't have the skills or the time to practice to make it to the top lobby.
Car Livery
There will be a number board made available soon. As for the rest of the livery, please be as creative as you like. I would like people to refrain from using offensive material though. No tobacco advertising. If you are good and have the time then please offer liveries to other members to use.
Car Selection
There are a couple of stand out cars that are a little bit quicker then the others, namely the Eclipse and the Talon. These cars will be excluded from the series. The Evo, it would be good if the faster guys (you know who you are) would not choose this car, and maybe this will bring the field closer together.
