Xbox One - Fixes and mods
Third party headsets are unusable on the Xbox One until Microsoft releases an adapter, which won't be until next year. Your Trittons, your Turtle Beaches, your Astros and Afterglows, forget it. Except one audiophile, a guy with a soldering gun and a purpose, wouldn't let it go

Extended warranty if you register online.
That's right, if you bought extended warranty from HN or JB you will probably kick yourself right now. If you register here
https://myservice.xbox.com/en-AU/Pages/Welcome.aspx
you will get warranty for your console until Feb 2016! That's almost 2 years and 3 months coverage if you register today.

Re: Xbox One - Fixes and mods
Thanks Danno.
Done! Covered till Feb 2016!
Our local EB never asked about any warranty. Maybe they knew... Posted the link on their FB page so their customers can do the same.
Interesting to know what JB and HN were offering as part of their warranty. Did it start from Feb 2016 or 12 months after purchase or from Day One? And what it covers. If it covers the same as M$ then that might have been a waste depending when it starts.

Also you will need to port forward your system again.....
It a little easier on the one though as the menus give you your Mac address for a fixed IP

Just done this MOD, works a treat on my Trittons 7.1. cost me $1.95 from jaycar for the 2.5mm female plug.mad DANNO 29 wrote:Third party headsets are unusable on the Xbox One until Microsoft releases an adapter, which won't be until next year. Some things and tips if doing it that may help.
The T6 screws as listed are not T6 well mine wernt more a T4 so I just cut the cable to the headset,
When doing the soldiering put some solder on where you want the wires to go first, this helps heaps as all you do then is put wire on solder and push and it melts into the solder no prob, also on your wires melt them individualy first with a lighter to remove there plastic coating as there very fine wire and almost impossible to strip bare. (not the big black plastic coating that all the wires are encased in but melt the individual wires themselves)
Also only 3 wires needed soldering, white blue and the bare wire not the black wire leave that.
Hope these tips help with anyone else that is doing this or considering doing this mod,

Re: Xbox One - Fixes and mods
was just about to do it and realized the smallest I have is a T8...damn it....can't find my smaller bits.
I was going to do the first method of stripping my TB cord and connecting it straight to the xb1 chat connection. So I don't have heaps of cord around me when playing

Re: Xbox One - Fixes and mods
You could have it as long or as short you want if you cut it, end of the day its a cheap $30 chat headset, I cut mine short so as not to have cable every where but still not that close that the connector now being like a breakaway is annoying when using the controller.
Works well and thanks Danno for the tips and tricks,

Re: Xbox One - Fixes and mods
This works a treat with turtle beach x12's, slightly different method though.....
I just cut the male end connector off an old TB controller chat connector cord and hooked up the 3 wires then race taped it all neatly back together. Note on TB's, white goes to red, blue to blue, bare wire to bare wire and just tape off the black, no need to connect.
I just cut the xbone headset cord same as razor & his burning off the insulation tip works great, just dont breathe the fumes in! Note: wires are fiddly so take your time...

Re: Xbox One - Fixes and mods
Anybody know why my XB One controller has decided to stop vibrating and the triggers have stopped rumbling too?
Just happened then. Was vibrating and now it isn't. It says it should be in the settings but it isn't.

Looks like they turn off the rumble when the batteries start to go flat. Good idea, gives you a bit longer to play and lets you know you need to replace the batteries.
Best thing to do is invest in a Play and Charge kit. Comes with a USB cable to charge but when connected the wireless turns off so you have a wired controller.

Re: Xbox One - Fixes and mods
I just have 8 re-charge batteries (cheap woolworths brand works a treat) keep 4 in the charger at all times and a spare set next to me when playing. Been doing that for years now and the cheap batteries last just as long as the expensive brands.
the play and charge batteries don't seem to last as long. have 3x360 ones that died after about a year.
