I think converters similar to this have been around for a while - most of them (can't speak for the ones you've posted) don't / can't support force feedback...

yeah this one doesnt do FFB (M$ has enforced a specific way of the 360 getting the ffb signal to the steering wheel), but apparently this one does rumble.

Re: G25/G27 on Xbox!!!
For those who have the logitech wheels it'd be a solution for the xbox.
But honestly guys, as a dedicated wheel user, the idea of using a wheel without FFB is like driving without any feeling in your hands. Rumble is useless for feeling wheel load and steering feedback.
I wouldn't consider it unless it includes decent FFB.
If you can afford the dollars for a G27 and consider a converter, then you should also consider a fanatec wheel and maybe std pedals if you can't afford the clubsport setup. 'Cause that is quality gear and compatible with xbox, PS3 and PC - with full FFB on all platforms.

Are you able to get the Fanatec wheels over there?
I've contacted Fanatec themselves on more than one occasion, and a couple of local suppliers to see if they were planning on bringing the wheels into NZ (some of whom had previously stocked Fanatec PS3 wheels) and the answer on all fronts was a resounding NO.

I've got a fanatec GT2 clubsport on pre-order now, with the Aussie supplier. So have a few of our other members. Due out here in April. Expensive, but supposed to be great piece of kit.
Here's the recent forum discussion on OZFM
You can get them in AUS and in NZ.
Simparts (NZ)
Pagnian Imports (AUS)
Fanatec (Germany)

Well that surprises me in a good way - now I've just got to justify the expenditure. I may well have to get a bit creative.
Would be really nice to have a cockpit to go with it.....

Re: G25/G27 on Xbox!!!
So just a quick question guys, has anyone tried ordering from Fanatec direct & if so what is the answer when you ring up/email Fanatec direct & try to place an order for a wheel?
I would really like one, but I don't really feel like giving $250-$300 + of my hard earned cash to a local "importer" (i.e guy who will by a few once you give him the money) just for the "privellige" of them shipping the wheel to Australia (Surely $50-$75) in shipping would get it here ok from Germany direct? With exchange rates the way they are, the full package, according to Fanatec's website prices, should be about $520 AUS before shipping.
Please don't tell me I have to move to Germany & set up a distribution business for Fanatec in SE Asia.
Otherwise, anyone have any friends/family they trust in Germany?

Hi Reapr I tried ordering online direct, but there's no facility to order for delivery in our region.
Never tried direct contact email or phone to plead for a direct deal, because all feedback from others indicates this to be an exercise ending in rejection.
Other than buying through the local resellers you could get one if you have contacts in another region (UK or USA) who would buy one and ship it on to you. But then there would be issues with support if you are unlucky enough to have problems.
I'd prefer not to have to pay a premium to local outlets either. But given limited units turnover and the work involved they deserve more than $50 for doing the business agreement, importing, selling and covering the support and warranty service.

I was thinking the same thing Reaper... and Hawat (he ran in the V8 Series) works for me, and is German, who has family over there... Might have a chat when he gets back in the office.

Just doing some sums, and iWolf, I think you may be right. The conversion to Euro from Aus is not that great, and when you take in to account the local warranty and support, it may as well be easier to buy from the Aus Importer.

Re: G25/G27 on Xbox!!!
I'm not trying to be a pain, but it seems the Paganin Site says nothing about local warranty & support (I had a very good look), from what I can tell the guy just brings em in & ships em out???
Are you sure that he is able to offer full warranty cover & is a licesensed Fanatec distributor (as he doesn't appear to be, he seems to be just a well organised importer making bulk buys after people pre pay & then on selling for profit.) I'm not saying this is dodgy or wrong, just that its not the same as say, Harvey Norman bringing it in & selling it for $800 (with full Australian warranty & Australian support/replacement ability for any dramas).
Maybe I've got it all wrong & missed something on the Paganin website that does say they offer a full Aussie warranty & support...
& Dazza I checked out the USD prices on the Fanatec Website & then converted from there, I got the $520 figure including the extra cable for PS3 compatability that is included in the Paganin deal. For just the wheel, shifter & CS pedals was $499USD so around $499 AUD too.

Reaper, this is definately worth looking in to. If Paganin does not offer local warrenty then it may very well be cheaper to import them ourselves.

Re: G25/G27 on Xbox!!!
As for warranty I would think where they say on there Fanatec 911 GT2 wheel + Clubsport Pedals + Shifter Set *Pagnian Imports provides a full 24 month warranty for all Fanatec products* Should cover it,
Oviously its not going to be local warranty as it's an overseas product, I guess you can assume it would be sent back to Fanatec and fixed there if needed. Send an email to them and ask,
24 month warranty sounds good to me. I have had dealings with Hess from Pagnian Imports and can say its some of the best customer service around.

Now if the G25/27 Had full force feed back on the 360, I'd be buying one of them.

Re: G25/G27 on Xbox!!!
Hi,
you may well be right about having to send gear OS for warranty support.
But the OZ guy is saying there's 24 months warranty and as a customer I'll expect to get that if I need it. I believe he is a recognised importer and has a deal with fanatec as do simparts in NZ. I expect gear would need to be returned to fanatec for warranty regardless of the country or mode of purchase.
I'm not aware of fanatec wheels coming to OZ via other national distributors. Would be interested to see what you guys can come up with.
But its all academic for me anyway, the deal is done.

Re: G25/G27 on Xbox!!!
There is another option. Use a US based buying and shipping service.
Not sure if the costs would work out cheaper but you'd probably get the gear sooner.
Here is the web address for one of these services:
http://www.myus.com/cgi-bin/aff/new_landing.cgi?id=1000721&gclid=COm_jqC6yKYCFU80pAodyGj_IA
500 Euro's is $673 Dollars , which is what the setup costs direct from fanatec.
So you need to be able to import it for less than $126 I reckon you'd be hard pressed to find a shipping service willing the get this thing from Germany to US and then to Au for under that.

The setup is only $520 US on the official Fanatec website (the exact pack as listed by Paganin) , which is about $530 AUD at the moment. Not $673 AUD

Re: G25/G27 on Xbox!!!
I sent an email to Pagnian Imports with the following response. I must add a very quick reply.
Hi I just want to know about the warranty on the Fanatec GT2 Wheel package. If the item requires repair does the item go back to Germany for repairs
No, you will not require to send back to Germany
Who pays the frieght charges
You will be responsible for freight charges but this is only to Gold Coast not Germany.
Will you carry a stock of parts in Australia
Obviously if we are providing warranty we will have parts in Australia.
Now I guess the question remains, does this equate to $270.00 - frieght from US/Germany?

You're absolutely right Dazza. And look who are the main culprits. Forum administrators.
Seems you can never find a moderator when you need one.
Now, back off topic,
Interesting and pleasing info regarding local warranty Dazza.
If someone was to purchase from the USA or elsewhere obviously warranty returns would go back to point of sale, more expensive.
Add the initial cost of shipping from OS to the local price and the difference is reduced.
I wouldn't blame anyone for trying to save on initial outlay, this gear is expensive!
Hopefully no problems with the gear means a cheaper purchase. Local purchase suggests less hassle to get repairs. Thats what you need to decide on.
Oh yeah, if you buy from OS you will need to get a power plug adaptor to suit local electicity sockets. Not a big thing but necessary.
Has anyone confirmed that you can actually get the wheel shipped here by an agent in the USA. If so, how much? Thats the question now...
