Re: Gran Turismo 6
Just gave it a go on the RBJ, holy hell that makes it much more fun to drive and more like a F1 car, as in the delicate steering inputs putting you around fast corners instead of yanking the wheel left and right.
And that sound....if thats the future of GT, i can't wait for the Feb patch (if they patch sounds in).
edit: The Sauber Mercedes has a in-car cockpit....last i saw that was meant to be a semi-premium job....I Frig LOVE THIS THING

If you want GT6 cheap Harvey Normans has it in store for $44 I picked mine up yesterday and a pre owned 120GB PS3 for $188 from EB. Which seem to be going fast. Will be happy to get the wheel out for the first time in over a month.

Let us know how the Fanatec wheel works with PS3/GT6, I was thinking to go the same way to get a Bathurst fix!

PD are retarded and don't support Fanatec products properly, so while they do work, the feel is not going to be as good as if you're playing on PC or on Forza 4. Since it connects via USB and doesn't have a specific profile set up like the G25-7 and T500S, the game treats it like a budget wheel, and i believe uses the DFGT profile for button management. The FFB is incredibly weak compared to running it on FM4 or PC.
THAT SAID
I relieved iWolf of his GT2 recently, swapping it out for the G27, and i have to say that the simple fact that you have the load cell on the brakes and the belt driven FFB over the gears in the logitech products makes the Fanatec (whilst stunted) a better set up than the Logitech. Unless you're ok with stumping up for a T500S and the load cell mod, Fanatec is still the way to go in GT6. The G27 at times was incredibly clunky and just didn't feel natural, but the infinite customization of the GT2 just allows you to get it right.
With the GT2 wheel, it felt absolutely divine running the recent M4 Willow Springs seasonal event, it felt exactly like a BMW should (reference: drove our X3 hire car and a '12/13 SLK350 in Germany).
So it hits some, misses a lot, still better than Logitech.

Just got around to setting up my PSN account and driving in GT6. Then GT6 crashed after my 5th race lol.
For reference I have a Fanatec CSR and Clubsport pedals. I want a shifter but no point at the moment.
Initially the feeling of the wheel was dull and when you put a CSR into PS3 mode it uses a g25 profile. That and 100% FFB I can finally feel the ripple strips. Envy is right not as good on the FFB as Forza 4 but it's still a great way to use my wheel and new tracks are always a bonus! I'll do some further tweaking and testing but it works and is just fine for the most part. Really I was sold on buying it when I saw the Delatwing and the FT-1 had been added =)
Will update more soon.

Depends on which one you have, plus if it was compatible it should have come with a leaflet separate to the main installation paper detailing how to do it.
For me on the GT2 you have to hook it up via USB, hold the "back" button to enter PC mode, then hold both the "back" button and the wireless connect button on the left of the tuning dial at the same time.

Thxs guys for the info,
I'm unable to get Mac, boot camped to run Win7 correctly. It won't see my graphics card, just defaults to a generic VGA card...
Anyway, looks like a cheap alternative, $220 or so

We could be getting a new track in the coming future. Might be tied into the GPS track creator

Bears a striking similarity to this one.

Yes, that is a racetrack.

Kazunori Yamauchi made a special appearance at the Taipei Game Show this weekend, and the first announcements are coming in from Taiwanese sites Gamerhotline and UDN (as kindly translated by our own Yui-san).
Based around the town of Zahara de la Sierra in Andalusia, Spain, the new track will be the longest in GT6 - longer than even the Nurburgring Nordschleife’s 26km of tarmac. As previously announced, it will be released in February, along with the Red Bull X2014 Standard and X2014 “Fan Car” models.
Kazunori was also able to confirm a report that five functioning Mercedes-Benz Vision GT Concept cars will be produced, based upon the 2014 SLS AMG car.
One particularly interesting thing revealed in the discussion is Polyphony Digital’s “one person, one car” policy. As the name implies, each car model in Gran Turismo is built from top-to-bottom by a single person, to promote the Japanese concept of “shokunin” – a master craftsman or artisan.
When asked about future developments, Kazunori confirmed that Polyphony’s primary focus remains on updating Gran Turismo 6, although work on the next-generation GT7 is already well underway.
So its not an actual racetrack, but its definately got something to do with the GPS mapping software, which is sad.
And yay, GT7 work is underway.

Re: Gran Turismo 6
Also I think they have tweaked the FFB because mine is feeling better.
At least they are tards that update their game unlike Turn10... with new cars and stuff for free, (wait what?) which has been cool... Not saying it's a better game but I appreciate PD's efforts in continuing support of their game. What have we heard from T10 in 2 months? Look shiny things over here, ignore the big issues... Sorry gripey mood this morning but it is true...
I bought Assetto Corsa last night will check out over the weekend and post opinion...

I dunno, 1.04 went a long way to fixing the "fun" factor that seems lacking in the road cars. Bought a RUF BTR, went to the Nurburgring and had loads of fun just driving the car like you would imagine an older car being driven. Especially given from a quick google search that the BTR is based on the 930 911, super tail happy sliding times abounds.
I think Forza has sort of conditioned my driving to treat non-race cars like race cars, which is something you can do in Forza (upgrading to B500, A600 and what have you). Driving this thing i had to dial back my expectations of what the car could do, and actually drove it like i would a real car. Didn't go for apex's 100% of the time, didn't try and do lightning fast shifts with the H pattern. Didn't brake super late into a corner. It simply felt right.
Which is great, because its something PD hasn't been able to achieve for a long time now, and gives more variety in the sim-racer space.

Re: Gran Turismo 6
I agree. I noticed a significant change in handling last night with 1.04. I spun the KTM a dozen times last night pushing the corners too hard, even spun the x2014 last night as well. There appears there has been some quite significant changes behind the scenes. I'm having to dramatically change my driving style right to accommodate for the apparent changes. GT6 does punish you for mistakes no doubt...
I think Forza 5 gets a lot of stuff right. I think their decision to cull their cars and tracks to only the highest quality was a good idea, annoying but smart. Nothing in GT6 holds a candle audio wise to F5 their cars just sound amazing... I think that T10 haven't sorted out all the other stuff that is missing yet, is just plain poor form by them and they need to sort their sh!t out. They have significantly impacted their fan base by their behavior and lack of visible effort in updates and content. They get DLC out rapidly, but where's the updates they can't charge for?
I think GT6 suffers from too many low quality cars and audio and using legacy content to fill the game out and it is very noticeable. I like the fact I get to drive all sorts of weird and wonderful cars like the Toyota FT-1 and M4 already. That's cool. The fact that I'm not bored of the tracks yet as well is a big selling point for GT6. There's just so many of them. For a PS3 game it does look great though but when you sit it next to F5 or pCars it doesn't hold, driving wise yeah it definitely does! As you said Envy, it's a lot of fun and there's always something new to do. But squealing tyres kill me, but I could be driving it wrong I don't know.
But Forza's car, tracks and audio are excellent, I can't wait to actually use a steering wheel to see the difference between GT6 and F5. But more than anything I'm more interested in F6.
For the $230 I spent on a PS and GT6 it is well worth it as well. I am interested in seeing where they go with GT7.

They actually lowered the tyre screech noises in the update, at least thats what i've noticed. And yeah i'm really impressed at how well the game runs considering the system, many of the environments actually look really really nice and i've been super surprised that it manages to mostly keep a consistent framerate on such low-end hardware. Trees kill performance something bad though.

Haven't tried it, but due to inherent limitations within the PS3's online capacity (i.e party chat) its most likely pretty bunk. No sense of social racing like in FM4.
Personally i think they should've released GT6 as a PS4 launch title (or Q2 2014) to take advantage of the much improved hardware, UI and online features the new box provides. Right now GT6 is really good in what it does, but you're playing on your own.
That appeals to me right now though since i'm basically jumping in and out of sims tasting what each dev has to offer and just driving for the fun of it rather than in any competitive fashion.
