Andy Priaulx and Mattias Ekström are the drivers of the car. Skaife will definitely be there to help out. October can't come quick enough now. I can't wait to see Mattias raceDazza4610 wrote:I recon he will engineer the car, or at least mentor the drivers for T8.NoRecoil wrote:Skaife Racing.....

Well this "Enduro Cup" just turned into a farce. Mandatory pit stops in the Bathurst 1000. What an absolute joke.

speedcafe.com wrote:V8 Supercars will stipulate a minimum number of pitstops for each of the three Pirtek Enduro Cup races in its latest effort to appease new-for-2013 players Nissan and Mercedes.
The V8 Supercars Board voted through the compulsory pitstop initiative today following the outcry over the reduced ethanol blend fuel trialled in the Nissan and Mercedes cars at Winton.
All cars will run the regular 85 percent ethanol blend for the endurance events, despite V8 Supercars again underlining its findings that the fuel run at Winton provided no performance advantage.
This weekend’s Sandown 500 will require each car to make a minimum of four pitstops, while stop requirements for the Bathurst 1000 and the Gold Coast 600 are yet to be determined.

Mandatory stops will be good and produce better racing - this is a good thing. NO BS Economy Racing where they fap around saving fuel and not actually racing.sempeR wrote:Well this "Enduro Cup" just turned into a farce. Mandatory pit stops in the Bathurst 1000. What an absolute joke.
Besides, the early 90's had mandatory stops AND brake changes - there is still a lot of strategy in it + Holden and Ford keep there advantage anyway.
If less people pissed and moaned about the Datsuns winning then the new cars would be on the E70 - blame the Dumb shit bogan fans for this one

3 if you spend half the race not actually racing and fapping around saving fuel
Ford and holden will still have an advantage as they will need to stop for less time, so the dubmshits will be happy

I believe it is around 45 laps to a stint around Sandown, an easy 3 stop race if I'm correct.
Mandatory pad changes came in after Larry ran the same pads for the whole race, Bathurst 95.
Tell me what makes you so convinced the 4 valve engines arnt making any more power with the E70? Have you seen the numbers? Have we seen how far they could actually go on the E70. Seems to me these bogans arnt as naive as you mate.

hmm well I must agree if it stop the bullshit "im gonna go slower to get less pit stops" in then I like it.
Race the entire time not playing petrol roulette is a better outcome.
So ive done a political backflip like the rest of them, maybe I should be in politics.
and Recoil cmon mate, don't go slagging the fans of the category, they are required no matter how many teeth they have or who they support. (although Im not sure about someone putting Collingwood on their bonnet.....clearly something Courtney wanted to further outline what a f*ckstick he is)
I for one loved watching the Nissan win, I like to see the winning spread around and the little guys taking away from the big boys.
Holden/Ford advantage? is there really that much advantage now this far through the season?

There is no added octane
Power traces dont lie + the car have a torque sensor fitted this year that would show if they did, if there ws an advantage V8 Supercars wouldn't have let them use it in the first place as it was use in testing before winton.
Firstly - both holden and ford are using a purpose built race engine with 20 years development that is NOT available on the aus market.
Why they didn't force both of them to develop current engines at the start of the year?
They are always going to have an advantage until the new motors are brought up to speed.
Secondly - Why not have all the cars run on the E70?
The fact this hasn't been offered is beyond me - sure the current motors would still have a slight advantage but at least it would even it out a little more and silence the critics.
I dont mean to slag on the bogans but the way this is being dragged out by HRT/T8 and Autoaction is going to ruin the sport.

Its a bit like telling Sweden/Finland to forget about what they know about skiing so the aussies can compete at the winter Olympics?? just wouldn't happen would it. They would say get up to the required level if you want to win.
agree bad for the sport to see it drawn out but none the less I don't think its wrong for the existing teams to have advantage due to historical knowledge.
20 years development is not on the engine that's for sure as the engine didn't exist.

Channel seven won the rights (without any competition) to broadcast the v8supercars. By contract, there are things they can and can't say on the telecast. And there are things they do say for the better of the sport. More fans= more people watching= more advertising dollars.
We, the fans, still don't know the facts and figures.
And stop with the naivety.

Re: 2013 V8 Supercars Discussion
At the end of the day Holden and Ford don't loose the fuel advantage, but Nissan and Erebus, you could say, are less disadvantaged.
I'd like to see the 4 valve engines more competitive and on par with fuel consumption, but I don't like the method supercars are using to close the gap.
E70 in all cars is pointless. You end up back to square one before you even go racing.
This will unfortunately go on until the new engines are fully developed (but development is never ending). If you are blaming this on the Holden motorsport md, auto action etc, think again. It's Nissan and Erebus lobbying behind the scenes for equality.

Ford set to commit to V8 Supercars in 2014
The Blue Oval is set to remain in V8 Supercars for at least another season with a 12-month contract extension for factory team Ford Performance Racing.
News Limited reports that the manufacturer will commit to another season in V8 Supercars with its factory team, which is currently battling for the 2013 championship with drivers Will Davison and Mark Winterbottom.
Ford's future in the series had been called into question with plunging sales of its Falcon model, which will be retired in 2016 when the manufacturer closes its Australian factories and becomes an imported make.
"A 12-month deal is looking likely," a well-placed V8 Supercar source told News Limited.
"Negotiations look encouraging and as of last week a new deal was looking imminent."
It's expected that the deal will be at a reduced level to the previous contract, which will help fund Ford Performance Racing and allow the team to continue to provide technical support to customer team, Dick Johnson Racing.
Ford Australia will introduce the final Falcon, the FH Falcon, during 2014, which will be an update to the current FG model with a focus on improved aerodynamics.
Though the Ford badge will remain on the grid in 2014, there is still no long-term commitment beyond next season given the demise of the Falcon and the fact its performance model replacement, the Ford Mustang, doesn't comply to the current V8 Supercar regulations.
Current Ford drivers Will Davison, David Reynolds and Chaz Mostert are out of contract at the end of the 2013 season and were awaiting news on Ford's funding plans before committing to the manufacturer.
There's also uncertainty around the #18 Charlie Schwerkolt Racing entry currently run out of the factory Ford stable for Alex Davison, with Schwerkolt rumoured to be considering a move to a rival team.
Ford's presence in 2014 means five manufacturers are set to compete next season, with the Blue Oval pitted against long-time rival Holden, the factory-backed Nissan Motorsport, Erebus Motorsport's customer AMG Mercedes-Benz entries, and new arrival Volvo Polestar.

Way to go Ford, a 12 month contract, such commitment yet again to the category that has helped your existence in Aust.
I really hope they dont just disappear from the category, it would be quite sad.

Slade and Erebus Motorsport to part ways.
Erebus Motorsport and its driver, Tim Slade, will part company at the conclusion of the 2013 V8 Supercars Championship, when the contract currently held between the two parties comes to an end on December 31, 2013.
Erebus Motorsport is of the understanding he will be joining with Walkinshaw Racing from 2014.
A number of high profile drivers within V8 Supercars have approached Erebus Motorsport about driving the Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG that Tim currently races, with a tough decision to be made that will help Erebus meet its performance and commercial goals.
“When entering V8 Supercars this year, Erebus Motorsport took on a number of pre-existing contracts from the previous ownership,” said Erebus Motorsport Chief Executive Officer Ryan Maddison. “We’ve always been aware that it was going to take time to shape the organisation in line with the long term brand vision of Erebus Motorsport.
”Despite some robust negotiations, we weren’t able to reach agreement with Tim, he has been open and professional throughout the entire process, which is exactly what we expect from anyone involved with Erebus Motorsport,” Maddison added.
“The motivation of our crew is higher than ever and each team member wants to come to the end of this year with the strongest possible results.”
Team Owner Betty Klimenko wished Slade well in his future endeavours.
“Tim is a wonderful boy, he has driven with us since our very first Bathurst 12 Hour. I wish him all the best with his new team,” said Klimenko.
Slade will remain behind the wheel of the #47 Heavy Haulage Australia E63 AMG through until the Sydney 500 in December.
The 28-year-old was a foundation driver for Erebus Motorsport in its SLS AMG GT3 program prior to the announcement the team would enter V8 Supercars with a trio of Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG racecars 12 months ago.
He will compete in the Sandown 500 with Andrew Thompson this weekend in Melbourne.
Erebus Motorsport will be making no further comment on Tim Slade’s contract.

Re: 2013 V8 Supercars Discussion
Again yesterday we seen skaife and Larkham waffling on about e70. 2 hours earlier skaife was telling us all about his promotion with v8supercars. Larkhams telemetry could be two laps from the same race for all we know. Sorry boys, I'm not convinced.
If the telecast goes back to channel 10, will we see outspoken commentators like the old days? Or the same bloke speaking out of his asshole looking after his personal interests?
C'mon Chaz and McLaughlin! Never thought I'd cheer for a ford (engine) or Dale Wood haha
