hmm, a quote from a guy on the FM3 forum...

So I've been hot and cold on Forza 3 over the last year, its been love/hate for me, more love than hate thankfully. But to see the shambles and joke that is Gran Turismo 5, makes me realise that T10 deserve a lot more respect than they get, and made me realise that in reality Forza 3 is THE console racer of this generation, we give T10 a hard time for what we want in Forza 3 - but PD have simply proved that with all their time and resources, making a console racer just ain't easy.

Polyphony have been playing around with GT5 for many years, and what do the hardened and dedicated PS3 folks get on their "wildly superior" console? A bucketload (80%) of unfinished standard cars (to me, a standard car is unfinished, no interior is half a job) which totally ruin the balance of the game - if your favorite car happens to be a "standard" you get limited damage modelling, and a last-gen model. Amusingly the Ferrari F40 (one of the most significant Ferrari's ever, and the first production car to crack 200 MPH) is a "standard" - thats right, no interior. To add insult to injury the game presents much the same races (even down to the same logos) as Gran Turismo 3 from 2001, and very little in the way of new or exciting content. YouTube is starting to pad out with leaked videos from the game, and its just about as unimpressive as could be (asside from the rain - which IS impressive!).

What on earth have PD been doing all this time!?

Forza 3 is superior in most respects, a vastly superior tuning engine to Gran Turismo (my V12 twin-turbo powered Gallardo couldn't exit in GT5), wildly better sounds (GT5 still sounds too dull), and 500 fully modelled cars. Yes, I know theres a few hooky interiors here and there in Forza 3, and some gauges that arent quite as accurate as they could be - but compared to what the die-hard GT fans have been given in return for their obscene wait - we've got it good.

I bought a PWTS for Forza 3, thinking I'd use it on GT5 when it came out. Not now, instead I shall use it to start a new season in Forza 3, with a new approach, and go through it all again! Rather than subject myself to GT5, which is essentially two games - one game with 200 cars, that looks like a technology demo, and another game with 800 cars from the LAST PD game that I played (GT4) with a few new circuits thrown in, and the same lacklustre tuning and upgrading.

Turn 10 - hats off to you gentlemen. Good work. Long live Forza.

Wow, that bloke sums it up perfectly.. Also , Forza 4 will be released in the not too distant future too, so will GT5 even be anything special once it is "finally" released. ?

If it had been out for a year or so aleady it would be forgivable, but i'm personally waiting for the announcement that for whatever reason they cannot actually complete the game. There must be some MAJOR issue that they simply cannot get past, for it to take this long & be this far behind schedule.

Puttzy, in the vid you posted the GT5 side looks like its running at a lower frame rate and someone painted the track with one colour.
