Looks like McLaren are going to have to give me more practice time. They say they are going to stop giving me the borgwarner 35 tranny, and I will have to learn how to change gears.

Last night was a blast, the AIs on Legend is much better. They seem a little more predictable to me.

Demon and Clarkson are going to be the ones to beat I think, they seem to be able to keep their cars in (almost) one piece. I can not believe 3 of us got DSQ at Monarco, I was so looking forward to holding up the AIs there.

Anyway, top fun Thanks. I hope to jump on sometime over the weekend for a bit of testing without the aid of a torque converter.

I would not go as far as saying more fun... different fun. This game is all about strategy, sure you have to be quick (like Forza) but for me the fun in this game is the pit strategy, choosing the right tires at the right time, keeping an eye on when to pit. If I pit now, I will exit in xx place, I am lapping 5 tenths slower and if I pit I will loose 20 secs so am I better off pitting or sticking with it... ALl deffinately fun IMO, better than Forza... naa, just different.

I love the flag rules, I think it shows who needs to work on their passing moves. In this game, you can not simply bump your way past, the officials are ALWAYS watching. No reviews, the game does it for you. While we may not always agree with the ruling, if I did not dive bomb a pass on 6-8 cars on the first corner at Monarco I would not have been disqualified LOL. Helps keep me honest, I guess.

I guess the game is not for everyone and thats why there are "Options" in the world. Although it does piss me off when Demon and Clarkson can qualify higher on Primes.

Not really a game you can hire for the night and be on top of the leaderboard, it is more important to get the practice laps in F1 2011 than it is in Forza.

I left because i got taken out by an AI who busted my front wing...
FK why but because i was taken out in the first corner the game felt it necessary to give me a drive through......
Went in the pits expecting to have to do the drive through first, but nope! lets fix the car first!
Started the race on primes, so d1iks in the pits put options on on lap 2.....
So i did a lap and went to serve my drive through....
By now i was being lapped, and the game gave me another penalty for not giving way at a blue flag - i was in the tightest section of the track and couldn't let the AI past without driving on the grass.....

Bit BS/fukin retarded, game pins you because the AI took you out - then continues to penalise you when you just trying to race and catch the field.
There was no point even trying to race after that point.

You can change the tire choice before you pit, so if they call you in due to damage and you want to stay on the same compond, just tell the pit crew. Up on the D pad, then right to select tire, up for options, right for prime, and down for inters.

I am guessing they fixed your car to save you doing another lap with damage.

Would be good if we could save replays... haven't worked that bit out yet, but I suspect it is not possible.

Check out Alonso at the start... this is what I did last night to get DSQ. I call a protest. LOL.

Hahaha, Dont stress recoil, you just cant jump in on your first time and expect to get it right, theres rules and flags, stratergys ect ect, to me they mostly seem pretty fair and consistent, its just abiding by them and driving to the game and rules, tho admit AI's can get in the road when your lapping quicker but thats the idea is to use whats available to you ie DRS, KERS to perform clean passes. Late dives under brakes and hitting cars will get you penaltys every times. Keep at it and more practice and im sure the enjoyment will come.

Shame I missed out on last nights run, maybe next time.

A drive-through penalty does not allow stopping for fresh rubber or repairs, so if repairs occur the drive-through has not been completed.

That's my understanding anyway.

then i had to go through again - hence being lapped

Anyone up for some F1 action tonight?

After reading a bit about cars on equal performance settings, its suggested a few times that equal car performance might not be quite equal. Does anyone know about this? ie ferrari lack of straight line speed, renault with more understeer and so on all on equal car performance.

Just curious if anyone has tested this and knows of any issues?

Really you would think that the same tune on a mclaren should render the same speed with same tune on a ferrari with settings set to equal car performance?

Apologies for the late notice Dazza, but i'm going to have to withdraw from the series. I just started a new job last week and haven't got the time at the moment to commit to the lengthy rounds. It's a shame as I think F1 is a better multiplayer experience than Forza, as you have all the tyre/fuel/engine management strategies that play out. Hope the rest of you enjoy the series and I will keep my eye open for any future F1 events on OZFM!
