Re: V8 SUPERCARS - CAR OF THE FUTURE - Here come the other manufacturers
i just dont see any other manufacturer ponying up the cash... they would get no benefit.
BMW entering?? its a niche market here.. not for the masses..
Mercedes entering?? see above?
Mitsubishi entering? why they dont have a large car..
Nissan entering? see above.
Toyota? don't need market penetration. they sell the most amount of cars overall.
that leaves?
whilst the chassis is the same, its not like nascar and they will all have the same shape and use stickers. they are bolting on holden and ford panels, lights etc..
but then again by 2014 ford may actually get rid of the falcon and they will need a different manufacturer.. The commodore is safe. export deals and the highest selling car in Australia. It is also the under pinnings of the camaro.

Re: V8 SUPERCARS - CAR OF THE FUTURE - Here come the other manufacturers
Why - winning races sells cars
You could create market by winning,
aussie market is screaming for someone other than Holden or Ford to win races so they have bragging rights, imagine the masses of Nissan fans who would all come running again like the Skyline era if they won a few races, same for any of the ones listed above.
We won a Aussie V8 Supercar crown, we beat Holden and Ford ....that would look good on anyones resume, to be the first to do it, even better
Im convinced in the racing world someone will want in.
If they wait too long they miss the boat and will forever chase Holden and Ford.
Theres too much exposure of the V8Supercars via MIddle East, UK, South Africa and a small bit via the USA (refering to the Gold Coast 600 drivers who want in)
Build it and he will come!

Re: V8 SUPERCARS - CAR OF THE FUTURE - Here come the other manufacturers
The middle east imho has been a failure.. international tv numbers are low, crowd numbers are low. the racing was boring..
race on sunday sell on monday does not apply anymore.. Every punter knows that what is racing does not represent what they can buy.. even the ford/holden bogans.
This is shown by the lack of post bathurst winning advertising Holden did when they won the 1000..
I guess we will have to agree to disagree.

Re: V8 SUPERCARS - CAR OF THE FUTURE - Here come the other manufacturers
Don't get me wrong.. i would like to see other manufacturers as long as other manufacturers play by our rules. History tells me that they won't..
We have a semi unique category which is successful in our country and it is one of the most successful categories in the world..
However i dont think the other manufacturers will play by our rules.. But again i dont think they would have interest. New manufacturers have been touted before. There was even a var built to show Mitsubishi what it would look like..

Re: V8 SUPERCARS - CAR OF THE FUTURE - Here come the other manufacturers
They built it and ran in Australian Super Touring Championship if my memory serves me correctly, and possibly the bathurst 6 hour..... They were showing interest in entering V8 supercars but weren't allowed to enter due to the FWD layout of the factory car.
Wouldn't be hard for them to get a Chrysler V8, they still have links with them from the valiant takeover

Mitsubishi didnt want to run...

What a shame Ford have their heads up their ass, they are going to die a slow death i think.
As a HOlden fan, thats a sad news article to read for the greater good of Aussie Motorsport

Well not really much in this but here it is anyway.
Maybe some teams will run a diff manufacturer as well as their established team? SBR Honda or SBR Toyota
Some of the comment and the end are interesting.
http://www.v8supercars.com.au/newsarticle/let-them-in-rogers/tabid/70/newsid/10856/default.aspx
and a bit of detailed info in here on safety bits and pieces for the COTF

Re: V8 SUPERCARS - CAR OF THE FUTURE - Here come the other manufacturers
its a pitty holdens arnt made from holden parts in the first place, so nothing much will change under this. We really need to get the bogans out of this sport, make it viable to compete against the best in the world, I cant wait
Yeah!
If you cant get rid of the bogans just let the other boganites from other manufacturers in!

To be honest im rather disappointed, it was good to see DJR back in the spotlight for a while.
I wish he had stayed where he was, Really dislike this man as a driver/person regardless of what team he is in. To much ford in him.

I rest my case about this d*ckhead, what a knob.
So know hes won a championship due to everyone else in the top 5 not finishing races regularly, hes a f*cking track expert, worse thing is now hes doing it wearing the Holden colours,
hes a chipmunk, i hope he gets punted by the DJR drivers each and every time they go near him.

hes the kid that everyone beat up at school because he got top marks and cried when he got a B.
i hope the Will Davison effect is still in his vehicle, can you say 22nd Mr Chipmunk, then he will get booted back to Ford.
I dont think he will win anything ever again, well maybe its just hope but i really dont think hes that good a driver at all.
I hope he proves me right

Light???Light???????????? They are 1350kg cars hahaha! I have more respect for them for driving cars with big power, big weight & skinny minny tyres IMO!
Bloody commodore drivers, thinking that 1350kg is a light car lol! Its just that your commodores are porkers hahaha!
My Subaru even has nearly about 100kg less weight than a that, it tips the scales at 1242kg (on the last weighbridge ticket for my compliance plate). Only 320 or so hp though, wish I had 600
