Re: Internet speed
Mine is around 3 - 4 MB/s but seems to be pretty solid even though it is slow and my son plays online on his Yuan at the same time. My Xbox Yuan is connected wireless (not enough wires and hubs to go wired at the moment).
How is your console connected? Wired or wireless? If wireless try connecting using an Ethernet cable and test the speed. It should be a little faster (for mine when the cable speed is 4MB/s the wireless on the Yuan is around 3.5MB/s). If a lot faster on cable it could be your wireless connection (1.65MB/s wireless vs 4MB/s cable for example). Recently I had to change the wireless channel and it fixed the speed issue I had.
Google some tips for your modem/router and if it is one supplied by your telco give them a call and they can talk you through it.

Re: Internet speed
I am with Telstra and using their primitive copper wire technology that is buried down the street where it can easily flood at the junction. I pay for ADSL2+ but at 4MB/s max I call it dial up of today. I can not see NBN coming to this area in the near future. New estates are getting it but the older ones will get left with old copper wire or wireless that costs a fortune (and where I am I get almost no mobile service from Telstra and Optus).
Since you are wired up maybe check out what your modem/router can do. Might be a tick box that might sort something out. Maybe not more speed but something to improve what you have. As I mentioned above my net is slow but I do get a pretty solid connection that can run 2 XBox Yuan's online or even host a race.

Re: Internet speed
Not to sure if this will halp.. but the powerpoint network connetors are a good buy .. If your router is in one room and your xbox/pc/etc is in another room.. have tested this item and seems to run quite well and no lose to network speed .. I would recommend the AV500 mbps adaptors..
heres a link of the items.. TP-LINK AV500 500Mbps Powerline Adapter Kit
Is it a good alternative to wire connect your console without having to run extended lan cables around the house .. plug one in a powerpoint near your router and one in a powerpoint near your pc / console.. connect router to unit 1 with Ethernet cable.. and then connect console/pc to the second unit.. and bam u have wired connection without running new enther net cables..
just some food for thought to help with your network speeds..
