Re: The Calais goes drifting :)
Thnks guys, it was my first time out and im absolutly rapt with how much i improved by sunday arvo, ill give the car a quick write up.
'96 series ii vs calais
5 litre
5 speed conversion
3.89:1 lsd
mild crow cam, heads mildly ported, 3 angle valve grind, roller rockers, pacemakers, later model radiator with v6 thermo
Pedder coilovers up front, pedders adjustable shocks down back, whiteline adjustable sway bars
Velo 4 point harness
Battery relocated to passenger side rear seat
Next mods are a decent size alloy radiator, second handy race seat, a seriously beefed up diff mount and a spool centre. Maybe a bolt in half cage if i need it to move up a class, but i might move on from the commodore before then.

Nice Ssemp, probably wouldn't bother with a cage unless you wanna get more serious with it. Good to see something different out there.
Oh and I'll see you soon for wildcard lobby

Re: The Calais goes drifting :)
So the next outing for the Calais is this Sunday, and since I'm a firm believer in the 5 P's... Perfect Preparation Prevents Poor Performance... iv been hard at it the last couple weeks getting her ready.
A general check over the front and rear end, some fresh oil and filter, and a quick clean of the air filter were the basics. I also found my oil pressure gauge was leaking in the cabin, and iv got a bent sway bar link. I'll let the later go till I can afford hd ones.
Oh and she got some more low whilst i was at it
But the big change will be a new full spool down back. Here it is, bearings pressed on, ready to accept the crown wheel for installation.
So that will be in by the end of the week, but not before a trip to pinch a part for a couple spare drive shafts... just in case
Happy snaps

Nice Ssemp, You'll definitely feel the difference with the spool. The 31 is currently a hovercar sitting in the carport on axle stands

Re: The Calais goes drifting :)
So uhh, update time. Its been about 3 weeks since March practice day... where bad things happened.
But not before good fun was had.
Anyway, back home things soon got hectic...
...And now the old boat anchor (and a heap of other stuff)...
...Will find a new home in this grand ol vessel, a 200 doller special!
The best thing about commodores? They are everywhere, except 5L's which you wont find at ya average "pinch a part". But for dime a dozen, it doesnt worrie me if i bang up another one.
As one stranger said to me, "thats drifting". Dont i know it!!
