Re: Updating the Firmware on the GT2
I could not reply to the actual firmware blog post but I posted something in the forums.
I have the latest Xbox Dash Beta which may have something to do with it.
As for observations, I found it to be pretty much exactly the same after the update. However, Normal steering mode makes a massive difference. From what I can tell it makes the game much easier and all but disables Drift settings. The wheel becomes very stiff to turn and I had to lower the FFB setting from 100 to 80 after switching to Normal.

Not that it should do that though.
I checked the wheel settings and Drift was set to 5.
I set it to OFF and restarted the wheel and it didn't do the rocking thing at the end of the self-calibration. Does it normally go all the way to the right and then back to centre or does it go all the way to the left as well?
I tried raising the Drift setting by one each time and it nearly does the rocking thing at 4 but it definitely does it when set to 5. It didn't do that before the firmware update. How odd.

Sounds like you might've found your problem.
With the 750b firmware my wheel is defaulting to Drift setting = 2 when the firmware is loaded and the wheel settings are reset by pressing and holding the tuning button for about 10secs. Did you do the reset on the wheel after loading the firmware?
I thought the old firmware only went to drift setting = 3. Not that I ever used them

I didn't reset the wheel settings - they were wiped by the firmware. I did reset the centre position though.

Thats right, the old settings are wiped by the firmware update and you'd expect them to be initialised the same as if you did a reset. But the instructions for loading the firmware said to do a reset as well after the firmware is loaded. Only way to find out if it makes a difference would be to reload the firmware and we've probably done that enough times already.

Re: Updating the Firmware on the GT2
Next time I use it I will reset the in-wheel settings and see if it makes any difference. The wheel works fine so I'm not too concerned...Not like the 888 error I got when I first got the wheel.

I've also dropped the FFB setting to 60 now to compensate for using Normal steering mode.
