742Beta is supposed to be a major update on most Wheels that improves a lot of things including FFB.
I was wondering if anyone got the update. When I tried to download it the link had expired.

That might have saved some time and frustration CE.
CLICK ME to read a topic that Dazza posted a while back about the 742 beta, it doesn't go well on the GT2 wheel. Sad

If you really want to try the firmware after that I can send you a copy.

There's been another update from Tomas' Blog:

Obviously only the drivers for PC...

We still have the issue when you click on the desktop symbol but that should be fixed soon. Please report what other issues you still find.

LOL, thats a quick find Dazza.
The update must have been released in the last 1hr. I checked earlier and there was nothing.

I've downloaded the updates, are you going to try to load them on your wheel?

Works well with the box. Feedback is consistant and strong. So far works as it should.

OK, so did a bit of testing last night.

It seems if you use Wheel Setting 1 your ok. I was using wheel setting 4 so I could have the look left/right on the X and B buttons. If you use that setting and ACL is turned on, every time you change gears you have a quick look behind you, some people may call this a feature.

As for the feel of the wheel.

All seems ok on "Normal" steering. When I tried Simulation steering, it was ok at first , but the same thing before if you have a little too much wheelspin on the corner exit, good luck keeping it straight. Now maybe you can tune this out, but I did not try. I will run "Normal" steering for the rest of the V8 Series then have more of a play when setting up the next series car.

Force feedback felt ok, maybe slightly weaker. I could feel the fronts let go a bit better. By that I mean understeer. Ripple strips and bumps all felt normal. I have FF 100 in game and wheel.

SO, if you are happy using Wheel Setup 1 then it is ok.

Is the Simulation Steering thing a bug? I thought I was just a crap driver.

Definately a bug. When FM4 first came out I used sim steering, then we had a dashboard update and all hell broke loose. Tank slappers all over the place Embarassed Lots of topics on FM.net about it.

There is a new dashboard coming out soon, this is suppose to fix some wheel issues that they broke before.

I have mine updated as well.

Have done a little testing and all good, so far.
FFB on my previous wheel settings is weaker than the old firmware, so I've changed some settings.

Am still using normal steering, sim is still uncontrollable once the car gets loose.

Ok, I need some help.

Updated the wheel and it worked fine, did heaps of laps in Forza.

Turned if off and came back to it later and now when I turn it on, it starts it's self calibration (but only shows one dash not three on the LCD) turns all the way to the right and stops, turns half way back to the left and then just rocks left and right over and over again now showing three dashes on the LCD! WTF?

Anyone know how to fix this?

Reapplied the firmware (after numerous unsuccessful attempts) and it appears to be working again now.

I wonder what happened?

Just tested it and the wheel works fine, but after the first power on, the strange self-calibration behaviour is back. It does exactly the same as before, ending the self-calibration with the wheel rocking left and right continuously. I tried driving again after that and the wheel was fine, it wasn't off centre or anything. Very strange.

Check the settings On the wheel. That looks like the drift setting is right up.

Not that it should do that though.

It shouldn't do that regardless of the Drift setting.

To me it looks like the centre is off but I reset it as instructed and it is not off when I actually use the wheel in Forza so I don't know. It self-calibrated fine the first time that I turned it on after the FW upgrade. It was only after I turned it off and on again that this started happening.

My wheel has been behaving ok and no issues at startup.
But I have noticed a very slight jiggling in the wheel from FFB and vibration motors when I'm navigating menus in FM4.

@skin, I accept that they shouldn't make for different wheel behaviour, but could the effects you're seeing be coming from wheel settings?

I could not reply to the actual firmware blog post but I posted something in the forums.

I have the latest Xbox Dash Beta which may have something to do with it.

As for observations, I found it to be pretty much exactly the same after the update. However, Normal steering mode makes a massive difference. From what I can tell it makes the game much easier and all but disables Drift settings. The wheel becomes very stiff to turn and I had to lower the FFB setting from 100 to 80 after switching to Normal.
