Re: mcrow5's real life photos - VicDrift Round 1
Nice ones.
With that little hut by the water, I reckon I'd push the exposure a bit longer, or use Curves in photoshop to make it a bit brighter. Since it's the point of interest of the photo it might look better. It's kinda tricky though, as you are trying to capture the darkness and hidden nature of the cabin.
Maybe like this:
Same for the black and white one. I like to shoot in colour and then use the channel mixer to convert to BnW afterwards. It means you can muck around with which "colours" are brightest in the BnW image.

Where is that park Mcrow? Looks like a great place to take my motorx bike. The new Maxxis tyre I put on the other day would rip that virgin soil up in no time. I am sick of taking it to golf courses.

Definite improvements mcrow5. That shot of the flower is really nice and sharp with great colour.
The landscape shots would look great really huge - so much detail.
@Paul - hahah, I took some photos of a park in Japan and all I could think of was how much fun it would be to fly through on my mountain bike. :-)

Re: mcrow5's real life photos - VicDrift Round 1
dad went go karting with the hsv club today, so i tagged along to take some photos. its harder than it looks haha! they go so fast and when they are that close (about 5 metres in front of me) it is so hard to get the cart in focus. it was my first try at motorsport photography, so they aren't the greatest.

Re: mcrow5's real life photos - VicDrift Round 1
i know what my problem was, my shutter speed was to slow, need to make it faster so that the whole cart/ person is in focus. funnily enough, i found it easy to get them in the photo, just not in focus 100%. luckily i figured this out this weekend, got the V8's at sandown this weekend so im all sorted for that

Re: mcrow5's real life photos - VicDrift Round 1
It's a fine balance - as you want to have quick enough shutter speed to capture the person, but slow enough so that you get motion blur on the background as you pan. Off the top of my head around 1/100 or 1/200 will still blur as you pan, but should keep the target sharper. This varies with the speed of the target of course.
Also if you increase the f-stop you'll get a larger depth of field so less hassle with getting the focus right. But, increase f-stop = slower shutter, so you may need to alter the ISO aswell.
Take lotsa photos and take note of what settings work.

Re: mcrow5's real life photos - VicDrift Round 1
Couple of my wifes efforts at shutter speed shots, shes not bad at em.
Would be better pics if i didnt have to lift my 92kgs, ....yes i have snapped a rear shock already!
I like the one without the effect, hahaha
Consider your thread officially highjacked with my pics Mcrow!!! hehe

Re: mcrow5's real life photos - VicDrift Round 1
so i was "sick" today, so i went to sandown to see the first day of the v8's unfortunately it is without doubt, a horrible track to take photos on. pit straight only anyone? arghhh! and with the barries, only seeing half the car, i found two spots i could get the whole car in. not much fun
anyway, photos may be up tonight (taking forever to download, god damn slow programs, doesnt help taking 200 photos though).
