Can you go fast and turn left?
OZFM Nascar
S698 PI
(Stock with drag tyres)
Races may run for 45 minutes timed. Positions will be decided by who ever has travelled the furthest.
Indianapolis Motor Speedway (The Brickyard Speedway)
Road America
Twin Ring Motegi (Super Speedway)
Road Atlanta (Full)
Sunset Peninsula Raceway (Speedway)
Infineon (NASCAR)
Sedona Raceway (Speedway)
Each race will feature a pit window(s)
Friday night series (probably)
Would like to see 12+ regularly.
This is not an OZFM race number series.
Race numbers must be 1 or 2 digits of any configuration.
eg.
00
3
86
07
etc etc
Contingency stickers are done. Send me a message on XBL for a copy.
Points System.
NAScars run a very crude points system
1st gets 43 points...
...43rd gets 1 point
1 point if you lead a lap. (one per driver/race)
1 point if you lead the most laps.
I have a proposition
Because this would be run on limited damage (To include tyre wear), people will inevitably bitch and moan about aero damage... so how about this:
2 warm up laps where EVERYONE gets 100% aero damage. they then pit to fix all mechanical issues and the race starts as a rolling start on the next lap.
Thoughts?

Looks good Dektra, can I suggest using Sedona oval instead of Sunset?

You can sugest it. It may or not be considered. will need to go fast and turn left there to see if the camber and grading will effect the brake fluid and TURN LEFT!

Too many road circuits, tire deg is fantastic on the ovals, but as per usual the cars are horrendous on normal circuits with drag tires.
Sedona speedway reverse. Thunderdome auscar style.

Keep them on drag tyres for circuirts. I think they drive pretty good like they are.Dektra wrote:Might jump them back to race tyres for circuits
Even if you put wider drag tyres on, that might be better.
And I mean, These are NASCARS we're taling about. They aren't exactly meant to feel fantastic around road courses.

Like the concept and think it could be good, maybe a bit more detail on cars and there build for us that dont follow it as much, also why would you have only 2 numbers as your racing number instead of our OZFM numbers, that doesnt make sense to me considering your using OZFM to host the event?

NASCAR itself only runs on a 2 digit number system. Trying to add some realism and allow people a chance to run under a different number. Push comes to shove it doesn't matter, just trying to inject some more realism into it.
Builds are really really easy...
...
... Drag tyres... That's it.
No tuning most likely. Try to keep the cars as even as possible.

Re: OZFM Nascar
Just saw this and am keen for something different. I know what my livery will be (ish) as the 42 Target already inspired my Ponty for the National series. Hopefully Target are running another Bra sale when this goes ahead.
What sort of Damage model will you run with? Losing aero will totally destroy anyone's race.
And if you end up running tunes, I will desperately need one to lessen the chances of me taking people out. Gonna be hard enough racing ovals with a controller.

Re: OZFM Nascar
This one is still on the back-burner.
A few big events on the cards right now and little interest to start with.
May have another look very soon. Would be great to see a NASCAR series here. I have some other ideas that differ a little from Dektra's. Will wait for the V8's to get going and help Dektra finalise the OSTC series then might see where we can take this project.

Reason i've put this on the back burners for the moment (Same with the DTM's) is because These are too similar to the V8's to run simultaneously.
DTM's require so much concentration people (Not all) would likely struggle to find the time/have the patience to tune for both the DTM's and V8's

Re: OZFM Nascar
Great news for Nascar!
A recent offer to join the OZFM Nationals has lead us to train our drivers to turn RIGHT to fall into line with Auscar competitions.
*Unfortunately our drivers can only learn 4 moves, do you delete a move to make room for TURN RIGHT?*
- GO FAST
- GO STRAIGHT
- TURN LEFT <--
- GO FASTER
*Driver forgot TURN LEFT, and driver learned TURN RIGHT!*
Sponsorship is still in discussion.

Re: OZFM Nascar
Who wants to do some Oval tonight?
Above stated build. Stock Aero settings, anything else may be tuned.
Will run on Limited Damage.
Drivers must pit between 60% and 90% tyre wear. just to mix things up a bit.

Have a read, some classic comments in this old thread from the Auscar Racing Series Extravaganza or A.R.S.E for short.
We crowned our first #1 OZFM A.R.S.E. Bandit and this is what started the very popular man train.

It will make the cars handle literally like a brick on wheels but it is probably the only way to still have the effects of tyre wear and everyone on the same page aero wise. It's probably the best way to keep the racing close and pack like

Re: OZFM Nascar
Count me in! I loved doing A.R.S.E last time. I'll never forget Dazza gently and skillfully ramming me from behind at benchmark oval. Back then we all ran the same car (Chevy I think) with the same tune - it worked well I thought.
I don't mind the idea of running with 100% aero so we can have le tyre wear. The only problem I can see is cars tend to be pretty unpredictable with full aero damage. They seem to just lose rear grip in the blink of an eye in the middle of a corner. Have you tested them with full aero damage, Dektra?
Just my thoughts, I'll show up and race no matter what the rules and regs are though.
