Re: Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters
I have been seriously thinking about setting up a DTM series for a couple of weeks now.
It's just a matter of getting everything sorted.
Who's interested in going for a run in them before or after tonights mx5, R vs B series ?

Yeah alright Clarko, also was thinking drag tyres to make it a little more tactical. Those things were wearing 5% per lap on Hockenheim full and takes the super grippy edge off the cars to make it easier and more fun to drive rather than overcorrecting at every corner

A DTM series sounds awesome.
I find drag tyres an awful choice to drive with though.

They're not that bad, and considering the new DTM cars are having detuned Aero, its a bit more up to date. The car still runs through the sweepers completely snubbing the concept of oversteer, but isn't so sensitive that newbies end up in a wall.

That's it. These cars have so much aero that drag tires are not going affect them that much.

They will mostly be longer races.
Maybe after the Hot Version series has finished on a thursday.
When do you think?

Just went in to the shed and found the archive box and started to reflect...

Re: Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters
-NOTICE-
Audi TT added, build on SF.
Depends if we run drag tyres or not, or whether we use slicks but have compulsory pit stops. Right now i'd like to see how drag tyres would work with full blown race cars. All the builds on my SF are drag tyre equipped.
Sounds good since theres nothing coming afterwards in that time slot.

I grabbed a build off your SF, gave it a tweak and a coat of paint.
May not be able to run in the series but had to test out the car.

Re: Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters
Well the build itself isn't finalised but it definately is a good idea to get some time behind the wheel with these cars, mainly so when it comes to race day you know what you're doing. These things are incredibly fragile, especially the aero, and knocking someone out because you forgot to brake is not going to be looked upon lightly.
These cars have practically no natural grip, it is all derived from the aero. Really that is my only hesitation with this series.

Re: Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters
ran alot of laps in these with clarko last night and great fun drove the astra and the audi tt and got to say loads of grip even when the tires get pretty thrashed and close racing aslong as theres no aero damage

There is heaps on atm Envy -
HRS Monday (5 weeks?) - only one week in.
Evo Series Tuesday - bout to kick off (8 weeks?)
Evo Vs Suby - Casual night Wednesday (just started)
Hot Version Thursday (6/7 weeks to go)
Red V Blue/ MX5's Friday
TTFR MX5's on Sunday (3 weeks left) - Something may follow up on Sunday afternoons.
This only leaves Saturday free from right now, no other series has been booked in yet for any night when the above ones finish up - Your pick mate, it'll give you a few weeks to sort out the details for tracks/points/etc.
