Re: Forza Motorsport 4
wasn't expecting such a leap forward in graphics. the lighting is ridiculously good. the changes to career and community sound really interesting, but was hoping for a changing lighting system though (day/night). but still looks like the best just got much better. if there's a midnight release i may be sad enough to turn up for it

That tyre smoke is awesome. i love how it drifts past the car once the car stops. cant wait to see how it looks drifting and not just spinning out.

Ok so the American LeMans series has done a deal with FM4 but does that include the porsches? Because they can't boast full American LeMans series but only have half the cars, can they?

Re: Forza Motorsport 4
So was reading the auto action today and found a little article that could relate back to forza 4. It's a long shot and i could be reading to much into it but i believe there is a connection here.
"Bathurst set to air on live AMERICAN TV"
Bathurst is set to be shown live in USA for the first time next month.
V8 Supercars chief Tony Cockroach is understood to have secured the landmark telecast of the Supercheap Auto 1000 during a secret meeting with senior executives of the Fox Sports owned Speed in Charlotte, North Carolina, last month.
While he wouldn't reveal specifics of the talks, Cockroach confirmed the visit and that a major announcement was imminent.
"I think we'll have a pretty big announcement to make on (V8 coverage on) American television in the next few weeks," he said "We're hot property over there."
According to sources, the big news it that Speed will show the Bathurst 1000 live on the dedicated motorsport cable network in North America and also possibly it's South American Service.
The timing of the race, starting at 10am EST, means it will be shown on the east coast of the USA in prime time from 8pm on Saturday, October 8 until the early hours of Sunday morning.
Speed has agreed to show Bathurst live because of the interest in V8 Supercars generated by the expansion to Texas in 2013, which Cockroach claimed had gained widespread attention.
"We have tremendous support," he said. "We have a lot of sponsors very committed to it. Both GM and Ford in America are really excited about it and really behind it."
Hopefully this article is a hint that American's want Bathurst also and trickles it's way down to turn 10 and into Forza 4.

I'd read that as "we feature V8 Supercars as our primary field of motorsport" rather than "we have a deal", otherwise you would indeed have VE racers mixing it with the FG.

There's a new 'Under the Hood' up on FM.net
It's reasonably interesting, as Brian talks quite a bit about physics, and the profile import feature.

Re: Forza Motorsport 4
I hate this trend of releasing day one DLC. DLC is meant to extend the life of the game when its 6 months or a year in its life cycle. If you're releasing DLC at launch, why can't it be in the game in the first place?
edit: Removed New York? I for one loved the update in FM3 with the chicanes...and why cut the Bugatti circuit?

I'll really miss the Bugatti circuit.... Seems strange that they spent the time updating Le Mans full, and the old version - but not the smaller Bugatti...
Won't miss Sidewinder personally - but I'll miss New York, it was an absolute V8 Supercar destroyer in the last series..

Re: Forza Motorsport 4
so dropping New York, Sidewinder and Bugatti for Burnese alps and short hockenheim... good work T10!
and no night racing... that "teaser" video they released at the start of the year was pretty much a load of bs then... getting the feeling like they are talking FM4 up too much, it's already starting to disappoint me and i cant even play it yet.

Re: Forza Motorsport 4
No Bugatti??? WTF!! A popular track used in most OZFM race series.
The new New York was great. The chicanes really transformed the track. It will be missed.
And the Sidewinder tracks. I must be one of the few that did enjoy them. I did not like the full circuit, just a bit to long and painful but I loved racing on the short tracks. Great for quick races, hot laps and photos.
One thing I do hope they do is join up Nurburgring (Nur GP and Nordschleife). But with tracks like Bugatti pulled I don't think this will happen...

Under the Hood wrote:What about my livery designs? How do I bring them from Forza 3 into Forza 4?
As all of the Forza 3 cars have changed for Forza 4 (primarily in the form of cockpit, damage, and shader upgrades) we can’t import entire liveries—they just don’t map correctly. However, we do support layer group importing. Layer groups are the car-agnostic groups of vinyl shapes you can create and stamp on any car in Forza 3 and Forza 4. These are not imported with your profile after the first race. These are imported in the livery editor area. You don’t choose which ones to import. It’s an all or nothing deal. You go to “My Designs” in Forza 4 and are automatically asked about importing all groups. If you say “yes,” they all show up in our catalogue.
I have no issue with not transferring my liveries but I don't like the "one off" import. Looks like I will be doing a lot of work in the vinyl editor saving logos from cars and tidying up old vinyls before FM4.

Found this, Don't know if anyone has posted it before or not... Track seems to have less sepia included which i thought in FM3 some tracks were like driving with my snow goggles on (Maple valley)... Also noticed they haven't changed the sky scenery at all (lazy f**krs)...

And hence why they created a track like the Alpine one. Road America really isn't a track to show off the new graphics. Looks pretty similar from inside the car.

Seen some good points and some bad - best thing to do is not read the hype and just wait to judge it for yourself

Re: Forza Motorsport 4
Sent this question to under the hood, will be interested to see if there is an answer. I doubt it. Have purposely used lower Mbps figures than what a lot of you get to get a better impression of there online setup.
"Hi Turn10
A couple of questions.
Lets assume in Australia, average download speeds are between 6 - 9 Mbps and uploads between .0.7 - 0.9 Mbps, with ping rates under 100 for players within Australia.
Can you explain any changes to your networking code and under above circumstances do you believe the 16 cars online would be a smooth experience? (Please feel free to edit above question in a way you feel you can honestly answer).
Are there any new pitstop features in the game?

Re: Forza Motorsport 4
i'm filthy they removed any tracks. i wasn't expecting that. no Bugatti or New York! FFS!!!!! i wanted to see Forza go down the line of more tracks on release day. instead they've wasted time on the tarted-up AutoVista. that's the last thing i'm interested in with FM4.
the vinyl group importer will be handy, but it's really lame the list of cars we can profile import...some features in FM4 are looking rather last minute. i was even hoping the Warthog was drivable but it's just AutoVista, so what's the point!

Re: Forza Motorsport 4
so all the cars that we can import are DLC it looks like
don't have many of the DLC car packs....and can't be stuffed paying for them now just to get an extra couple of cars in FM4
meh

I think they are going to really milk DLC this time.
Expect lots of car and track packs that could have quite easily been included in the retail package.

Looks like they have used exactly the same sky box which is a shame because I think they needed a bit of work. I know you don't drive around looking at the sky but you are looking at the horizon a fair bit and it looks fairly low res and fake in Forza 3. No dynamic clouds or anything for Forza 4 then.

Man, the US Top Gear sucks nearly as much as the Aussie one.
Good find though - see a bit more of the game.

The lastest Under the Hood is up at FM.net.
Dan talks about:
Unlike the other two Under the hood's that we've had so far - I don't think there is ANY bad news in this one... All just feature adds, and I have a feeling some of the drag racers, photographers are going to be quite happy
