GT Enduro - Road Atlanta - Lap Times
Hi Guys,
A big thanks to the guys giving me some tips last night during the race to improve my lap times.
I'd like to ask a favour. Can you run a handful of laps and post here what those times are on Road Atalanta? (our next track). I'd like a target to aim for as I practice this week.
Thanks,
Alf

Re: GT Enduro - Road Atlanta - Lap Times
Thanks guys, that gives me a good baseline to work with. My initial laps tonight are 1:25.xxx in the M3, but I can already see some opportunities to bring this down.

Re: GT Enduro - Road Atlanta - Lap Times
OK, serious talk for a moment.
Tonights race was fantastic. I don't think there was anyone that didn't have a good time in tonights race. Was is disappointing is that we've only had a total of 8 people max per race. These races would be absolutely fantastic with several more competitors, a full lobby of 16 would have made for even better.
While i can't really fault anyone for simply not being interested, i know i'm rather vocal in my disinterest in V8 Supercars. there are a couple of other problems with FM5 in general that simply make series' like these boring from an outsiders perspective.
I think only the hardcore fanboys at this point can deny that there is a significant lack of proper race cars this time around along with less tracks. To compound this, in my personal opinion, the physics engine is complete and utter bonkers with regards to certain cars such as the 458, which reduced the viable selection of cars down to two, the BMW M3 and the Corvette. That to me, is bloody disappointing.
In my opinion, there are three options available to us.
1 - Project CARS. I don't think theres a single user here that isn't aware of the advantages of PCARS when it comes to pure content. The only risk is whether or not the driving and the gameplay is going to be as fun as we expect, along with the possible lack of a livery editor.
2 - Hope that FM6 delivers on everything we loved in FM4, along with extras such as proper tire compounds, a reduction in bullshit sticky grass areas, proper tyre wear and fuel consumption.
3 - Migrate to PC gaming to take advantage of PCAR's full feature list, variety of wheel setups and access to iRacing, Assetto Corsa and rFactor 2.
I genuinely think this is a discussion that needs to happen, so please, lets discuss.

Re: GT Enduro - Road Atlanta - Lap Times
If this was forza 3 those numbers would be awesome haha.
I want to say thanks to all the guys who ran the series, even if you only made 1 race.
I may revisit these cars again for a tuesday night series but in a sprint format, I know the fact that these races were 1 hour + (all races were 200km) may have put a few people off. And the fact it was on sunday night may also have been a deterrent. But the fact is participation is down and has been dwindling for a while. For me personally I am sick of FM5, but races like night remind me why I still play it.
Personally I will, for the next year or so, stick with the xbone and pcars but at the same time I'm moving over to the PC side of things. If i stick with xbox after next year will entirely depend on what Forza 6 is like and the quality of games released next year. In my opinion, aside from a few standouts, the majority of games released this year are average at best and if we have another year like this I'm not going to bother with console gaming anymore
I feel like project cars definitely has the chance to change things for the better for this forum, but we wont really know that til release

Bang on. Dissapointing, but you can't blame anyone for getting bored with FM5.

Re: GT Enduro - Road Atlanta - Lap Times
Couldn't continue racing lastnight, was looking like a good close race though. Missed the start as I couldn't find where it said a start time so I just thought usual 9pm.
I said that awhile ago if oZfm wants to survive it has to expand its selection, have 3 different main areas PC, xbox consoles, playstation consoles.
Il prob be getting a pc and wheel for some old gt legends, GTR I've got sitting around, flight sim, euro truck simulator (looking at you rinkly lol)

Re: GT Enduro - Road Atlanta - Lap Times
As Ive said before, I'm new to the online racing scene (my last racing game prior to FM5 being Gran Turismo 4 on the PS2). I have no previous experience in the Forza series, and FM5 was my introduction. Even then, I came to the FM5 party pretty late. With that in mind, I have some views;
The V8 racing was, for me, great. That's not particularly because of the cars, but because there were enough participants that we were grouped into roughly equal chunks of ability. You always had someone to race. When you've got only a handful of racers, you'll get a wide spectrum of lap times, and to be frank, driving around a track alone isnt much fun.
Based on what's been said above, I think there's two questions that need to be asked and answered;
1: What do we do in the near/medium term to attract and retain increased participation?
2: What is the strategic (medium/long term) plan for the OZFM group?
What do you guys think?
