Bandwith, latency and LAAAAAAAG.....
I would be interested to know what results people are getting in the 'Detailed Network Statistics' in Settings/Network...
I have pretty good bandwith (about 40Mb down, 4 Mb up) but latency of 230ms, which seems pretty crappy.... Switching to a wired connection improves both, but latency still only drops to about 185ms. This seems like it would be enough to cause lag.
Anyone having similar results?

Test on the dashboard is to the West US coast = Fail
Use Speedtest.net if you want an accurate figure

Spot on, i'm in Brissie & get 195ms on dashboard, but on speedtest i'm about 20ms to Sydney if you r getting around 200ms or less on dash you should be fine
Best test is a program called 'pingplotter', it lets you enter an IP or www address and pings every 1 second continously, showing you the ping time for every 'hop' along the way, router, local junction, city main hub, jump to next city etc. Its really good for testing connection stability as well as ping.

What connection are you using taco?
Wired or wireless?
If wireless go grab yourself a Blue cord! makes a world of difference, wireless is useless for gaming

I'm in Mt Barker WA and somehow jagged one of about 5 streets in the whole town with adsl 2+
Best i get is 13mb download and 2 upload. Once I spent a little time on the setup im usually rock solid now unless the mrs decides to dl halfway through a race (this may lead to conflict ha ha)
Like recoil said get wired connection if possible it usually cuts the lag a fair bit and even have a look into things with your provider such as interleaving, If its off it can reduce latency which i think is good for fps games but for racing i think its bad and leads to flying cars etc. I leave mine on just for a more solid connection. Thats the extent of my advice I aint no guru but I hope you sort it out soon man

Re: Bandwith, latency and LAAAAAAAG.....
I live on Lake Macquarie NSW and my internet is crap. Because my xbox is a fair way away from the modem i bought a wifi extender and it has improved my internet alot. Im also running a blue cable to the extender. I only have problems if there is someone downloading or using youtube etc.

Re: Bandwith, latency and LAAAAAAAG.....
.6 up is still ok for xbox ..if you were hosting might be a few flying cars tho
Mine is wireless to a tower then fibre but it still avg 20ms ping. Trouble is they always seem to be updating the tower so it's not very reliable..

Re: Bandwith, latency and LAAAAAAAG.....
.6 is on my laptop haha, its shocking and after a lot of digging in to, as im staying at my parents until i heal properly and im still renting my other place out i checked what the net difference is there and at my house im getting 20ms ping and more than double the download and upload speed while here is 30+. so i discovered that my parents are getting charged with ADSL2+ but are only receiving ADSL1
my house and my rents house are literally only around the corner so there shouldnt be any difference in that as they are using the same provider

I think I was having some router connection reliability when the xbone was using wireless, but have a 10m cable now and on wired that room is getting about 90 down 5.6 up with 5ms ping and seems rock solid
