Re: Network ports used by Xbox Live!
Alright you Frig smart asses.
This is for the people who need to do it, the fact the last game was plagued with connection issues for people who hadn't opened there ports means that there is every chance this one will be too.
The "but my connections fine" shit attitude from people last game caused enough headaches when it came to getting a series lobby together. The fact that the quicker people fixed there shit, the easier it was for people to connect to sessions is proof that it makes a difference for ALL members involved. If you take the dam time to set this up properly from the get go then there will be less hassles down the road.
If every one has done it, and done it correctly, then we are all simply covering one of the things that can go wrong when it comes to connections for the game.
Ill put it another way - If im host and you cant join a series event or cant get in the party chat, tuff shit. You dont race and i wont be waiting for you to "go do a restart because i cant join".
Im sure the xbox website just listed 7 ports for shits and giggles, you know because the last one only required 4 and all. So clearly the new 3 just aren't worth even making mention of.

hehehe...I do agree with you Recoil
....people with crap modems do need to do this and if you are having issues then post up here what modem you have and I can sort out the easiest way for you to do it.

Re: Network ports used by Xbox Live!
I think everyone needs to make sure their modem is set right. Those with modems worth more than an XBONE set up to the dodgy modems your tel-co sent you. Check it and set it up right.
You are right Recoil. The "mine is fine, it has to be yours" attitude is not going to cut it when the big race series make a start.
Rebooting is just a quick fix. May get you in the lobby but the next guy, even with the right settings, misses out.
New toy, new tech, new gen... Take the time and set it up right.

Re: Network ports used by Xbox Live!
Can xbox one and xbox 360 chat together in a XBL party?
Don, I also run a web server, so port 80 has to be open for that. So it will be open for xbox too :-) sharing is caring...

80 is usually used for internets things, mine shifts it to 8080 instead when you change the settingsDon Stylz wrote:Looks like im in trouble. as i have port 80 pointing to my nas box which is running websites. so what happens there microsoft. ?? hehehe

That's correct. But you can sign in on the 360 and one at the same time.STONDKIWI wrote:def not dazz tryd it last nightDazza4610 wrote:Can xbox one and xbox 360 chat together in a XBL party?..

Dazz .. just to be clear. u got port 80 - port forwarding to your web server ip ???.. so hows it routing inbound packets to get to either your web server or the xbox ??
Only thing i can think of is running the NAS on a SSL Port 443 .. just sucks as u always get certificate warnings popups if u havent purchased a verifyed certificate from verisoft or another cert provider for your server.
Guess i will worry about it when my console arrives..
1 quick off topic question.. is there much diff from the day one console to the standard console ??
only thing i could find was the acheivment , print on a controler and some addon for a free online fighting game..
the hardware specs will be the same for both ??

Re: Network ports used by Xbox Live!
Don, my server (Small Buisiness Server 2008) runs everything for me and the router is set to uPnP with DHCP running on the server. All just works. Don't usually have any issues connecting to anyone or them connecting to me. Been set up like that for about 3 years now. I do however have some issues with my slim360, it has always been a bit weird and sometimes I loose the whole house network while upnp sorts out its stuff, don't need to reset anything just sometimes it takes a few minutes to connect up, doesn't usually drop out once connected to xbl though, unless everyone is having problems then I believe it is an XBL or T10 thing.
PS, no port forwarding just uPnP enabled.

Re: Network ports used by Xbox Live!
thanks for the info dazza sounds good as thats the same sort of setup i have got for the nas.. As i purchased a new router 2 weeks ago ( D-Link DIR-865L ).. so im hoping this router should just work for me without doing any extra config.. .fingers crossed . I will probly just have to enable the other portsDazza4610 wrote:Don, my server (Small Buisiness Server 2008) runs everything for me and the router is set to uPnP with DHCP running on the server.
