ferals review of the next level wheel stand (my v8 super car prize)
i believe iwolf has done a review on this stand but i would like to do one as well as a thank you to pagnian and the ozfm admin for the fantastic prize i won
well here i go this is the first time i have done anything like this so i apologise now if it is a little long winded or goes a little of topic
i received a call from my wife on Monday (6/2/12) that the stand had been delivered by a courier
i got home to find this sitting inside the door
i opened the box to find the stand well packed and wrapped in a bubble wrap bag
i pulled the wrapping off and found the box of bits well packed into the frame
on first impressions the frame looked well made and looked quite solid
here it is unfolded
i opened the parts box to find all these goodies
i proceeded to mount up all the parts which only took a couple of minutes with most tools supplied all i needed to use was a spanner just to hold a couple of nuts from turning
here is the side adjustment bolts to tighten up the stand when unfolded or folded up and to adjust the wheel height
i then started to mount my wheel (fanatec porsche 911 turbo s) to the base plate which comes pre drilled for a few different wheels and also comes with the bolts to mount it as well
next was to mount my clubsport pedals to the pedal base which has slots in it to mount a few different peddels but not the clubsports there is a pedal stopper plate included for this but when i went to fold the stand up the peddles fell off so i drilled a couple of holes in the base plate and mounted the peddels solid to the base
this is the peddles mounted with the peddle stopper
but i also found it uncomfortable that close to the front of the base plate so i mounted the peddles further up the base plate here is the peddles bolt to the base plate
the only thing with the clubsport peddles is they are quite wide and when i drilled the hole it was just inside the base plate frame as you can see in this pic on the right hand side
i did drill some new holes in the front of the peddles but i couldn't be bothered to pull the peddles apart to re drill the back holes which i will do when i change some of the springs and bushes from the peddle tuning kit that i got from pagnian (off topic pic and sponsor plug)
the peddle base plate also is adjustable backwards and forwards so you can find a comfortable position here is the adjustment screws for the peddle base plate
all up with not re drilling and mounting the peddles it would have been about 10 min at the most to have it all set up and ready to go race
now that i had it all mounted up i tided all the wires for the peddles and wheel to the frame with the supplied Velcro straps here it is all ready to go
now it was time to give it a test run so i went and did some hot laps and i was really impressed the frame was as solid as a rock no movement at all even with the force feed back turned right up and me driving like and idiot to test it right out one thing that i did find was that under some very heavy breaking was the frame went forward but that isn't the frames fault as it has got rubber feet on the base it is my carpet in the lounge room as every thing slides on it
here is a pic of the feet
my only grumble and a small one at that is that the shifter mount supplied doesn't have any brackets to take the fanatec shifters but i will make some up latter for it
here is the stand folded up with nothing on it
here is the stand folded up with the wheel and peddles mounted
any way i would recommend this stand to every one who has or is looking of getting a wheel and doesn't have the room for a full simulator but would like the felling of using one. i was using my couch as the seat but you could use anything from the couch to a dinning room chair to a computer chair
ok so that is my review i hope it wasn't to boring as i said before this is my first go at anything like this i would once again like to really thank pagnian imports for there sponsorship and support of ozfm with great deals for members and some fantastic prizes they have supplied and also a very big thank you to the ozfm admin and crew for there hard work on the forum and securing such great sponsors and also to all my fellow ozfmers as without all you guys there would not be a forum and some excellent racing on here
regards

Agree 100% Mr T.
A great job on the wheel stand review feral. It tells the story and has heaps of pics to go with it.

good point ru im not using the shifter at the moment so i might screw a solid stubby holder to that and when i make a shifter mount i will ring pagnian and see if i can buy another shifter mount for the other side i will do that later and add the pic and thank you all for the replies i enjoyed doing this review

or you could always get hold of a handlebar mounted bike drink holder, (pic)
then, mount anywhere on the frame, within reach
who says ya can't drink and drive!
