Ring of no lights?
Hey guys, I think my Xbox has a problem... It will not turn on with the controller, and when I do turn it on with the front button, it starts up and connects to the controller. I get everything on the screen as you would expect and everything works. Except, I get no lights on the ring or the power light. So if you looked at the xbox it would appear to be off, but it is not.
Any ideas?

Which xbox do you have? Slim? Yes try re syncing. Is your controller actually connecting? If it's not then your problem is something bigger.

I have the older style, I think they called it Pro. 20Gb HDD and HDMI.
The controller does control, it has the light to say it is the first controller. Just would not know it if you looked at the xbox (no lights at all)
I just tried to resync it, and it has done that, but still no lights on the xbox. Weird!
When I try to turn off the xbox with the controller, it does, however the controller stays on. so I have to take the batteries out.

Yep, that one syncs up aswell. Now I have 2 controllers that control the xbox as you would expect, but still no lights on the xbox.
Maybe I should just not worry about it, maybe I have just blown the LEDs or what ever makes the lights light up.

Re: Ring of no lights?
Might take you up on that Manic. I have been having a google around and it appears that some others have had this issue, or something similar. The ones I have read about can not control the xbox, and the controller will not sync up. So maybe my problem is the begining of something worse about to happen. At the moment the ONLY problem is the lights dont light up.
There is a module that controls the lights and the syncing of the controller, so maybe this is on the way out. If you have one of them lying around then I would like it. It is not too urgent as this is my second xbox, the one that is attached to the PC.

Naa, dont need any bigger, I still have 10Gb free. I only use it to link to the PC and use a 16GB USB.

Don't you install your games to the hard drive? Makes it faster, quieter, and doesn't wear out the DVD drive.

Good advice... and if you're like me, then your DVD drawer will only open after you turn the xbox off and on 40 times and you have to pry it open with a screw driver. HDD ftw... although now i have a loud spinning HDD instead of a loud spinning disc...

Not on that xbox, on the other one I do install the games I am playing.
