Re: Call of DLC: Modern Rehash 3
I picked up mw3 on launch and wasn't really that impressed to start of with but as i have learned the map layouts i am finding it to be good fun to play. Elite is a pain to get into but that is just teething problems. My biggest problem at the moment is which game to play. Skyrim, BF3, MW3 or F4. Aaaaargh!!

Re: Call of DLC: Modern Rehash 3
I personally would go MW3, one to keep up my anti-EA vendetta, and two because i absolutely HATED the basic gameplay of the beta and no one uses their mics EVER in BF on console (including BC). If i were to get BF3, it would be on PC, but since Origin is a necessity to play on PC, thats a no go for me.
I actually enjoyed CoD4/MW2 immensely, but bear in mind that i play HCTDM exclusively. HC nullifies all the "advantages" of stuff like quick scoping, lightweight running and stopping power, meaning you can use whatever weapon you want and not be at a disadvantage, including pistols.
I also found that teamwork has a much higher prevalence in HC than in normal modes, as knowing where the enemy is is half the battle due to the removal of the HUD and mini-map, making the UAV a worthy killstreak reward. It also helps that pretty much 90% of the Aussie MW HCTDM playerbase actually use their mics in game.
Detractors of HCTDM will claim that all that leads to excessive camping, however that is an incredible mis-conception. What ends up happening instead is since you can kill just as quick as the other guy, you can counter a "camper" when you see them and have a much higher chance of surviving the encounter. Referring to the aforementioned focus on teamwork, players will actively help out others to remove a "camper" and people will regularly guide others to where those "campers" are located, due to the longer respawn period and team camera. This actually discourages camping and promotes movement, as you become an easy target for a well organised team.
NOTE: I say "camper" in inverted commas because i believe it to be a legitimate survival tactic. Nothing wrong with slowing down the game to your advantage.
edit: Also to our advantage, Aussies are in general far more ethical gamers, not resorting to exploits to win and playing within the spirit of the game. While Americans are having a fit over hacked matches and Prestige 10 lobbies, i witnessed nothing of the sort, and trust me, i played MW2 A LOT.

Re: Call of DLC: Modern Rehash 3
Thanks for that. My friends have a decision to make as well. i think one has BF3 already, and the reason i ask is that every now and then as break from racing every frid nite, we have in the past enjoyed a team based affair called Ghost recon advanced warfighter2. its a great game but getting a little dated. So i guess expanding on the original question, is the CO-OP good? in either? not so much interested in deathmatch modes, mainly CO-OP...cheers

Unsure of BF3's co-op but BF Solo and co-op credentials aren't pretty. Spec Ops in MW2 however was incredibly fun. Varied and challenging, i can only imagine its become better in MW3.

Re: Call of DLC: Modern Rehash 3
Basically when you down someone they leave behind a "dogtag" (what is with this dogtag obsession? Hurr Durr got dogtags DERP), basically a token for adding a score for your team. To score you must pick up the enemy dogtag, however you can also deny enemy scoring by picking up those from your fallen teammates.

Re: Call of DLC: Modern Rehash 3
oh to be young again and only need to put
on a uniform on line.
i have BF3 you get to fly Heli's in co-op
good fun if you have Stu as your pilot.
MW3 went back to EB was same as MW2
no point in having the same again.

Re: Call of DLC: Modern Rehash 3
Now, i'm about to stir some embers here, please try keep this civil
I can say the exact same thing with regards to BF3, you know that right? All BF3 is is bits and pieces of BFBC, MoH and BF2 stitched together and given a new paintjob along with the removal of modding (biggest issue with BF3 imo).
Think of the number of sequels you've played that have had absolutely no dramatic gameplay changes. Acecombat has stayed the same for the past 10 years, and i still bought every iteration. Uncharted 1/2/3 are all nigh upon identical in practice. Devil May Cry, Crysis, Gears of War, Halo, Rainbow Six, Metal Gear Solid (started changing after Subsistence though), Burnout, Grand Theft Auto, the list is nigh upon endless, but i'm sure that among those names some of you will find an absolute gem of a game, simply because you liked it.
To say that its too similar to the last game and use that as a detractor is, to be honest, garbage. Pretty much every game that has a sequel is fundamentally the same, with minor tweaks here and there, a new narrative and a new paintjob as gameplay perks expand due to increasingly capable hardware.
Why fix what ain't broke?

Re: Call of DLC: Modern Rehash 3
I was trying to tell people this for ages! But nobody listened.. MW3 is just a glamourish update to MW2.. Waste of money! I mean when they use the exact same engine and base a MW2, what do you expect?

Re: Call of DLC: Modern Rehash 3
its made the headlines grossing the most money ever.
in my humble apinion it is because it cost a lot more to buy
than it should ,and for some people it will keep on costing.
DLC wont be cheap. BF3 for me.

its actually the COD4 engine they are using, they have just polished it up a bit. they are even copying and pasting some buildings from COD4 into MW3.

I got told by a mate, who knows the guys at infinity ward, and he said they used the MW2 engine.
