Forza 3 Pictures and Videos

A new thread for posting piccies and videos, I don't have much yet because you can't really take shots using the wheel anymore so it's not as convenient. But here goes anyway!


My very first piccie after having a quick fang in a Commodore V8 at Sedona. Nothing special, just to commemorate the occasion.


My downhill run at Fujimi Kaido in the Datsun 510. Expect to see me driving this car more in the future

Here are a couple of shots from last nights V8 racing plus bonus video! Sorry for the lack of shots but I am getting a bit weary so this will do for now.

Mitch leading out front at the Sebring. That was pretty much every race until Xero showed up


Sedona proved to be quite a difficult track to come to grips with, most having never raced it. The tire-frying V8s didn't help!


And now some action from Road America, pretty much only the first corner but great to see a full field!

Love the old GTR! As matter of fact I love most of the old cars, the fiat, Datto and all the yank muscle. Once I get round to buying some cars I'll probably have mostly classic stuff.

Im slowly collecting a few lol, yeah all those shots are ingame editor, i dont have photoshop or anything like that.

thanks mate, im happy to take photos of someones car if they want me to. ill put some tips up later when i have some more time. heres a few more for you to drool over :p

its all in game, the only thing i know how to do in photoshop is resize them lol.

mwahaha, extremely long post here. and thanks TEEROY, its nice to know that someone appreciates it. i might create a thread for you guys to post photos in for me to comment on and say what needs improving etc.

its all about the spot you take the photo in. the one with the 8C in it is a very popular spot (benchmark layout A, go ahead and its the first massive shed you see in front of you, and head into light bit on the road on the right hand side), its very easy to take a good photo there. some spots i just cant get a good photo, others, like the benchmark one, are easy as.

to get the reflections like i do, its an increase in exposure and contrast until i get the effect i want (reflections also depend on the angle of the sun relative to the cars position, ie, with the 8C boot shot, the sun is facing the back of the car so reflections are easy to highlight with increased exposure). adjusting the brightness helps, and i found yesterday that the level of colour can have an effect too. sepia doesnt really do much, sometimes i increase it a bit to get rid of a bad tint on the car, but unless you want a yellowy/ orangey photo, its useless.

always when i first enter the photomode, i press the X button to put the focus on what i want (usually the car, or if its a shot with more than one car, the cursor will be over the car i want to be the clearest). i then zoom in and out, different angles and then zoom in and out again once ive found an angle. usually, depending on the slider settings, it will take me about 2 minutes to take a photo.

if i have time tomorrow, i might see if i can make a small tutorial on getting a good effect. for now, heres some more.



^^^this one is a pretty good photo, nothing special though. the lighting on this shot sucks, nothing stands out, and the background is boring, no matter what i tried with the sliders, i couldnt get a good photo. its all about position baby!!!



okay, lets do a bit of info on this next one (lambo wheel). this next one took me about 5 minutes to find the right place with the right sun angle. fyi, its on the nurburgring (and note, it took me another 5 minutes to get the blur of the wheel right, fyi, it was a very low speed, about 40kmp/h). first thing i did, was zoom in on the wheel. then, exposure right to 100, brightness down, and then slowly decrease the exposure. decreasing it too much made the nice effect go away, so an increase in contrast was required to get the flare back in the shot. however, dont increase the contrast too much or you will make the shot too dark on some occasions, and too much contrast can have a crappy effect (see here, see hows its really dark? thats what too much contrast will do). anyway, i then fiddled around to get the right settings and saved it.

i hope this little tutorial gave you guys some good advice on how i take my photos. again, if i have time tomorrow i will put up a tutorial, i have to take photos in increments to show the effects that happen. i might not do it, got a job interview at 12pm, so that sorta fu#ks up my day for what i can do.
