That Fanatec F1 is really really really really really really REALLY nice piece of kit

edit: Just so you guys are aware, every PC sim dev generally gets "pro" race drivers to play their game, SMS has just successfully made a big deal about it really.

Massive update is downloading at the moment for this. How big? 4.5GB big, the patch list is well into the 10's of pages! Career is now working and set up so I will check it out this weekend and let you know how it goes =)

Hey Sun, I don't suppose you know if there is individual car audio adjustments like there have been in previous Forzas?  I currently have to use auto in Forza5 because I can't hear my own revs clearly enough and so often change gears at the wrong time when around the other vehicles.  Drives me nuts...boom boom.

Also curious on the grid/race options.  I know it has qualifying but what about extra tinkering like say how BTCC is run where for some races they randomly choose a certain number (I think between 1-10) and that many cars are reversed on the grid.  Plus I think sometimes weight is added to certain place getters.

And how deep does the personal livery system go?  I'm sure it won't be as good as Forza but hopefully good enough.

Suncrossed: The authentication servers were down for me yesterday. And this morning I didn't get the huge update either. Career is not working for me ATM. What version was the update?

But this does look beautiful, and all the cars handle perfectly with my GT2 wheel.

GoomF: I can't see any audio adjustments, but I haven't tried looking because it seems pretty good to me. There are all sorts of race options, none of which I have played with. Been having fun hot lapping with the different cars.

Sorry Envy, can't do it or we get kicked out of the project. Think of it as privileged information. We have to be careful about what we can share. But trust me Come Nov. You are gonna want this thing.

Yippeee We can turn left and go fast. I remember racing like that in an ozfm event. We ended up needing quite a few restarts lol.

Hmmmm, I wonder what "starting" means? A staged release per platform, or game functionality ie: DLC
"Project CARS will be coming to the Playstation 4, Xbox One, Steam OS, WiiU & PC, starting November 2014."

With the recent Xbox Juan pricedrop/removal of kinect i've been considering grabbing one so i can re-join the OZFM racing fun. However i want to know how many people plan on sticking around not only on FM5 but on the console itself once PCARS comes along. I don't want to buy it now only for everyone to jump ship in a couple of months time.

I'd stick with the xbox if you use a controller. I only made the jump because I didn't want my fanatec to be a door stop and spend another $1300 getting a racing setup for , lets face it, a game which I think is lacking in a few areas. pCARS scratches that itch for now. Stunning graphics, up to 39 cars on the grid, any option for any race, weather, Nights, all looking very good indeed. When forza 6 comes out, I'm betting all these areas will be fixed up. And if it still has the excellent livery editor, then it shall beat pCARS for fun.
I'd say most of the guys here who own an xbox one will not bother replacing it with pCARS unless they have a kick butt computer already. I can see them staying with the ONE for this excellent community.

Post by SunCrossed Mon Jun 16, 2014 10:21 pm

Just wanted to share some latest observations I had playing the latest build on the weekend. I've always felt the car in cockpit mode felt larger on the track than it was, so even on a really wide track there never felt room for 2 or more cars comfortably. Forza 4/5 and GT6 all seem to have this issue. I was on Silverstone in a BMW 520 turbo racecar big spade front spoiler thing in pCars and the track felt nice and wide and expansive. To add to that I was driving without any suggested lines and it felt perfectly natural, I didn't want to add them I just got faster and faster as the laps progressed, it felt brilliant. And I think the cars cockpit looked better than the ones in F5 and they look brilliant...

My observations are that I am a crappy driver Smile I don't know what they did, but I'm getting between 60 and 70 fps now by myself on track. And it's not that much different in a crowd.
