Painters Beware....... Empty Painters Beware.......

Post by surferofthemind Mon Oct 31, 2011 4:05 pm

Word is out that some modders/hackers have worked out how to unlock designs from the Storefront.

What to do?
Some are saying not to remove your designs. Why? If you made it and uploaded it it will be stamped with the upload date and time and this can help T10 work out who is the original owner of the design.

You can remove your designs if you feel that they are not safe. If they have been unlocked it may end up being you word against the hackers when it comes to working out who the original painter is.

How to help.
Keep an eye out for designs OZFM members have made (regardless of the club they are in). If they are on unknown Storefronts let the original artist know so they can follow up with T10.

For the painters. Sign your work. Add a small decal with your GT or initials and even a club/garage logo. Some of the hackers do not look for these small details when reselling stolen paints so this will help pick yours out of the rest.

And buy from the original artists regardless of cost.

I hope no one here gets stung by these lowlife cheats.
And to the cheats, I hope you get caught. wack

Is it certain that this is only for designs and NOT tunes as well?

I wouldn't say tuners are immune to this...
If they can unlock a paint who says they can not unlock a tune.
A hacked tune will be a lot harder to find on the SF.

I was given a link to a site where the modders/hackers hide out.

Yes they can unlock paints, vinyls and tunes!!
And they are proud of it.... Evil or Very Mad

Painters Beware....... Fucked10

See any familiar names above? Shocked
A few good painters are listed on that short list... How many others are down that list and are any of us on there? I recon a few of us are... pale

If you go to FM.net you are warned not to show links to the hackers site or show names or GTs as it is against Xbox Live ToC. If you do have any info they want you to PM the Mods on FM.net.

Any one who needs to "name and shame" a modder/hacker here please do it via PM's and those details will then be forwarded off to T10.

Didn't you mean to say feel free to DOS attack websites that promote this kind of behavior Suspect

I really do feel for the guys that put the time into these designs just to have them ripped off by idiots with no talent, and nothing better to do Mad

I do not wish advertise these kind of sites on a public forum. T10 has made it clear on FM.net to do the same and they will edit posts and if need be ban members.

To download a song or a movie may take $1 - $30 away from companies or individuals who make millions. These hackers are ripping off regular gamers who put in a lot of time for enjoyment not money.

If you want the link I have you will need to PM me. I do not wish to put OZFM in the firing line of T10 or the hackers.

Before you guys clean out your SF's... Some people are setting the paints, vinyls and tunes to 0 available. They stay on your SF but can not be purchased/downloaded. This way you will still have evidence that you were the original painter/tuner without the risk of losing your work to hackers.

Attention all!!

Some of our friendly hackers have found them selves locked out of all Storefront, Auction House and gifting activities on FM4 thanks to some of the APEX boys finding Adam's paints on a number of storefronts.

The stolen liveries were reported using the in game reporting feature (T10 gets a copy of anything you report so they can see if it offensive, etc), Adam was notified and then he went straight to mods Heironimous and SnowOwl who managed to have those storefronts closed down in a matter of minutes.

The hackers may have the designs saved on the computer but will need another gamertag to share them or sell them. Eventually they will get caught again or just give up. I hope T10 make some sort of patch for the game to hopefully stop the unlocking in the future.

Good news surfer, as you say hopefully T10 will be able to patch the bug and get rid of the problem.

A permanent ban from Forza online is not too strong a "reward" for the scum that steal people's work or try to profit from it, imo.

If they are caught braking the CoC of Xbox Live (modding your Xbox I think is a no no somewhere in their CoC) then console bans can be given as well.

Thanks for posting this info Al... I will have to keep a look out for any dodgy business. It is certainly disappointing to hear this sort of activity is taking place but I am glad to hear atleast some of the hackers are getting caught out. Mad
