Name's Hailfire. I'm here to race.

Post by Guest on Thu Jun 24, 2010 8:38 pm

My name, for all you will know, is Hailfire (But some call me Trav/Travis). But you might as well call me an outsider as I am, sadly, from above the equator. But, have no fear, for as my time in American schooling is drawing to a close, I'm trying to find any way possible to move down to Australia. I've grown up thinking that American cars produced in the last 35 years are garbage, and that if I could ever get my hands on a proper Holden (not the dumbed-down G8 we 'imported') that I could live the rest of my life in happiness. I also happily watch what V8 races they show here, but I get them on a 2 week delay so I'm often a little behind.

But enough about my envy of you guys; I'm here to race. I'm not the best ever, but I am proud of the Top 500 times I do manage to get every now and then. I'll put most non-leaderboard randoms aside, but the second I see a Viper, an Audi, or an Aussie, it seems like the playing field is firmly leveled, if not offset. So I guess I'm here to 'train' as much as I am to race.

Consider me your private ambassador to the American horridness. Accept me or throw me out, just know I'm not inviting any more of me here.

EDIT: I forgot to mention Hailfire Racing. That is nothing more than a simple tech-share program that is centered around me. We share tunes and fairly uniform paints.

Hahah - nice intro mate, and welcome.
I guess the main problem you'll have is the problem that we usually face when racing in US comps - weird start times.
But, you are welcome to check out the hot lap comps and things like that that you can do in your own time. Have a look around and see what you're interested in. :-)

Thanks for the welcome. I expected the problem with the start times, but while I have the lack of responsibilities in the summer I'll probably be able to make some overnighters. And expect me to try to be a factor in the Hotlap challenges, as I've got good experience there against one of you guys--even beat him a few times.

Welcome to the board hailfire.

I don't think you're our first member north of the equator, but I do believe you'd be the first from the USA.

You'll find we're a good group of clean racers (ok, clean MOST of the time) with a strong forum community.

Have a look around the forums and get involved with anything that interests you.

Hope to meet you on the track some time.

Cheers

WOW our frst import!!

Hey bud, welcome to OZFM and all the Aussie goodness within, im sure we can accomodate you with some great racing, time trials, photo comps etc etc etc
I spose the other issue we'll prob have will be lag as you USA blokes seem to get the best speed and we get what you'd expect from a small island down in the ass end of the world, im sure we have someone sitting on a C64 somewhere pushing through our data *.* ,8,1
But its always fun to have flying cars in the odd replay haha!

Quite stoked to have a yankee wanting to get in a real Holden!(notice he didnt say Ford Falcon!!!)
PS we arent all like Marcus Ambrose and decide to turn the vehicle off whilst leading a race, what a dick, good to see he hasnt changed! haha

Oh and let me know if ya a MLB fan, im a baseball tragic.

most of you guys who know how to hold a controller should be able to kick my ass anyways. I'm too unorthodox of a quick racer to win. But I can manage myself for about 4th. Whether it's an 8 person lobby or a 2 person lobby, I always seem to get 4th.

Why so? You guys seem to be a good group of people. And surprisingly tolerant of Americans...
