---Round 1: 1/1/2015
Circuit de Catalunya
Located just north of the famous city of Barcelona in Catalonia, Spain, the Circuit de Catalunya is one of the world’s most respected, not to mention busiest, race tracks. Home to a variety of motorsports events throughout the year, including open-wheel and motorcycle races, Catalunya is also a testing hotspot for motorsport teams thanks to its centralized European location and temperate climate. The 2.8-mile circuit is a heady mix of curves, elevation changes, and long straights, making it a challenge for engineers and drivers alike. The recent addition of a chicane before the final turn might slow cars down a bit, but the long straight along the main grandstands still make for one of the most famous start/finish lines in all of racing.

---Round 2: 8/1/2015
Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps
For nearly a century Spa has been a home to racing. The inaugural race in 1921 on the public roads between Francorchamps, Malmedy and Stavelot had to be cancelled due to there being only one entry. Since then, the circuit has been known for its high-speed straights, incredibly fast corners and multiple elevation changes. It was also known for being extremely challenging and dangerous before changes and safety precautions were introduced. In its current form, Spa is still a favorite among drivers and the host to prestigious racing events such as the Spa 24 Hours, and Grand Prix racing. Over the course of its 20 turns across 4.32 miles the circuit will test the mettle of any driver. Whether it be finding the perfect entry and exit at La Source or finding your braking point out of Kemmel Straight approaching Les Combes, Spa is a joy to navigate.

---Round 3: 15/1/2015
Indianapolis Motor Speedway
For more than a century Indianapolis Motor Speedway has been America’s crown jewel of racing. Nicknamed “The Brickyard” since it was – until 1961 – a bone-jarring all-brick circuit. Now, just the start-finish line remains bricked in remembrance of racing days gone by. Indy’s two-and-a-half-mile rectangular oval is made up of four quarter-mile turns, two 5/8 mile straightaways and two eighth-mile “short chutes.” Complementing the historic oval since 2000 is the infield course, which incorporates the southwest oval turn to make up its 2.6-mile circuit.

---Round 4: 22/1/2015
Le Mans Circuit de la Sarthe
Since 1923, once a year the public roads and racetrack sections of Le Mans come alive with the roar of race engines for the most revered motorsports event in the world, the 24 Hours of Le Mans. It is, bar none, the fastest racetrack on Earth. Driving Le Mans, a driver will be wide-open throttle 85 percent of a lap. The Mulsanne Straight is 3.7 miles long and prototypes hit speeds in excess of 250 miles per hour before two separate chicanes were added in 1990 to comply with FIA rules requiring straights no longer than 1.2 miles. In 2012, the first of these chicanes was renamed as the “Forza Motorsport Chicane”. Made up of 38 turns over a total of 8.46 miles, Le Mans is one of the longest tracks in the world. The Bugatti Circuit is open year round and is host to a bevy of race events including DTM and Moto GP. You will find both circuits in Forza Motorsport 5, as well as the classic layout with the chicanes removed.

---Round 5: 29/1/2015
Long Beach
In April 1974, Christopher Pook, a local Long Beach travel agent and fan of racing, brought international attention to Long Beach by putting the city on the racing map. With the help of 1969 Indianapolis 500 winner Mario Andretti, Pook arranged a Formula 5000 race as a test of the track’s setup. Long Beach went on to host Formula One grand prix during one of the greatest racing eras in history. Drivers like James Hunt, who had a spectacular lap one crash at the circuit immediately gave Long Beach international reverence as the “Monaco of the West.” In 1977, Andretti out-dueled Niki Lauda at Long Beach and became the first American to win a Formula One grand prix in the U.S. Over the years, the skyline of Long Beach has transformed from non-descript, small buildings to state-of-the-art high rises and upscale condominiums. IndyCar racing is now the premier event. Yet, despite these changes, the track has mostly remained the same. Naturally, the street surfaces have improved, but the hairpin just before the high speed run down Shoreline Drive, which leads to the infamous Turn 2 around the fountain, is as challenging as ever. Long Beach is an American racing icon and always provides for exciting racing no matter what breed of cars are competing.

---Round 6: 5/2/2015
Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca
There are many tracks in the world, but there’s only one Corkscrew. Set among the golden hills of California near the city of Monterrey, Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca’s most famous feature is a steep downhill S-curve that drops five and a half stories in just 450 feet. The challenging sequence of turns pushes cars to the limit, and was also the site of what has become known among race fans as “the Pass.” In one of the most impressive moves in motorsports history, during the 1996 CART race Alex Zanardi recovered after nearly going off the track to sneak by Brian Herta at the entrance to the Corkscrew on the final lap, taking the win to the amazement of onlookers, announcers, and fellow racers. But even before Zanardi’s incredible pass, the California track has been transfixing and delighting drivers and fans alike since 1957. Constructed because the Pebble Beach Road Races in the nearby Del Monte Forest had become too dangerous, the course was built on a dry lake (“laguna seca” in Spanish) that was part of what used to be a firing range for Army Ford Ord before and during World War II. Since its inception, the 2.2 mile track has hosted a number of racing series, including Can-Am, Trans Am, Champ/CART, ALMS, and a variety of other car and motorcycle racing series. Several features on the course are named for famous racers, including the Andretti Hairpin (Turn 2), the Rahal Straight (between Turns 6 and 7), and Rainey Curve (Turn 9). With short straights and lots of elevation change, Laguna Seca favors a tune that emphasizes sharp acceleration and good braking behavior.

---Round 7: 12/2/2015
Mount Panorama Motor Racing Circuit - Bathurst
Bathurst is known by anyone who has raced there as something to be feared and respected. It is challenging and rewarding but will take its quarter given the slightest mistake. The 3.8 mile circuit travels around, up and over Mount Panorama in Australia. Its 570 foot elevation change, off-camber corners and narrow racing surface are technically a street circuit since it is made up entirely of public roads. Nearly every stretch of track has been named after notable supporters or events that contributed to the tracks rich history. On Conrod Straight V8 Supercars will hit close to 200 MPH before hitting the three-turn sequence of The Chase. Preceding Conrod Straight is Forrest’s Elbow – named after a motorcycle racer who scraped his elbow while racing. No matter where you are on Mount Panorama, the views and the tests of your driving skill will be tremendous.

---Round 8: 19/2/2015
Nurburgring (GP)
It is almost difficult to believe that the intensely demanding Nürburgring was constructed in 1927 as a purpose-built safer alternative to the older races through the Eifel Mountains’ treacherous roads. However, in the spirit of the older races, the northern loop (“Nordschleife”) is a public toll road, open to anyone for a “touristenfahrten” session for a fee. It’s plethora of turns (by one count 73) include hairpins, banked carousels, and the infamous “flugplatz” (“airport”) bump where fast-moving cars often go airborne. The tortuous circuit gained its famous nickname, “die Grüne Hölle” ("the Green Hell"), due to the majority of the course twisting through a dense forest. The Nordschleife is considered by many manufacturers to be the ultimate test of their high-performance offerings, and the crown for fastest transit around the ‘Ring passes from car to car as the companies compete for the title. However, until the early 1980s it was also the scene of some of the most hair-raising and dangerous Grand Prix racing ever run, until the construction of the dedicated (and much safer) GP track in 1984. Since then, the main racing event run (mostly) on the Nordschleife’s serpentine tarmac is the 24 Hours Nürburgring, a true test of endurance open not just to well-funded teams but also to amateurs who meet competition requirements. Despite the pedigree of the ‘Ring, previously home to the “Ringmeisters” with such legendary names as Ascari, Clark, Fangio, Stewart, Surtees, and Ickx (to name a few), even the weekend warrior can find glory at Nürburgring.

---Round 9: 26/2/2015
Road America
One of the oldest and most distinguished of all the tracks in North America, Road America is a road course situated near Elkhart Lake in the scenic woodlands of Wisconsin. Much like Laguna Seca, Road America was conceived during a time when racing on public roads was becoming too dangerous to justify. Pressure from race organizers and government officials led to the abandonment of racing on the roads near Elkhart Lake, and ultimately to the construction of Road America in the span of just five months. The course opened in 1955, and the first race was won by legendary driver Phil Hill in a Ferrari Monza, after a hair-raising final lap that was a duel of nerves with fellow racer Sherwood Johnston’s Jaguar D-type — an auspicious sign of the exciting racing that would unfold over the years at the track. Unlike virtually every course of its age, Road America has managed to maintain its original four-mile, 14-turn layout (except for the addition of a bend used during modern AMA races, which is now playable in Forza 5). Despite a major renovation of the track facilities in 1992, all of the elevation changes and sharp turns have been preserved, making Road America a course that must be carefully studied to master. Highlights includes Turn 6, located under the Corvette Bridge, where a small hill obstructs the view to the blind left-hander beyond, and the steep climb up the final straight that makes overtaking through speed alone a formidable struggle. Road America is host to many different race series, including the Trans-Am series, challenging drivers of a variety of cars and motorcycles with its sharp turns and hilly terrain.

---Round 10: 5/3/2015
Road Atlanta
Georgia’s Road Atlanta course, owned by local automaker and racing team Panoz Motorsports, is most famous as home to the crowning race of the ALMS season, Petit Le Mans. The 1,000 mile endurance race was one of the original events in the ALMS season, and the winner of the race in each class automatically qualifies for the 24 Hour of Le Mans race the following year. Some may remember Road Atlanta as the scene of two of the most spectacular crashes in history, when a Porsche 911 GT1 did a complete backflip in 1998, followed in 2000 by a BMW V12 LMR—less a fault of the track and more an issue with insufficient aerodynamic development on the cars. Constructed in 1969 out of a farmer’s field in an area better known for oval-track racing, Road Atlanta has attracted some of the best North American race series to roar around a road course, including Can-Am, Trans Am, Formula 5000, and AMA motorcycle racing. Revived from a period of disuse in the mid-1990s by Don Panoz, changes included the addition of a chicane (Turns 10a and 10b) to bring the track up to international race standards—but on the long straight leading up to that chicane, the best LMP1 cars, properly tuned, can exceed 200 mph. The track’s elevation changes and a wide variety of corner types make it the perfect venue to test the extreme performance of the latest ALMS and LMS racers, or to simply give your favorite A Class car a workout.

---Round 11: 12/3/2015
Sebring International Raceway
Sebring International Raceway in Central Florida has been the home to American endurance racing since shortly after World War II. It is often seen as the test bed for endurance racing’s finest as they prepare for the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Over the course of more than half a century its long straights, technical turns and challenging racing surface has been an American icon among the world’s best-known circuits.

---Round 12: 19/3/2015
Silverstone Racing Circuit
Originally an RAF airfield used in World War II, Silverstone was home to bomber groups that utilized its long runways to get airborne with heavy munition loads. Thankfully, after the war was over and car enthusiasts abounded, the airfield was leased to the Royal Automobile Club. Ever since the first crude race course was established, cars have been flying around its tarmac. While the Bridge section and Luffield complex have made the track more technical and improved safety, Silverstone is still a home for high speed. Recent changes including an expansive paddock building and track configuration make Silverstone more epic than ever before. You can see these for the first time in Forza Motorsport 5. What better way to appreciate its historic surface than in a British-built track car whose acceleration and overall speed rival purpose built race cars of the highest order.

---Round 13: 26/3/2015
Yas Marina Circuit
Each of the twenty-one corners of Yas Marina Circuit are unique; adding challenge to this ultra-modern circuit. The facility is housed on a man-made Yas Island in Abu Dhabi, UAE. Within the bounds of the circuit, drivers travel underneath the Yas Viceroy Abu Dhabi Hotel as the track twists and turns among the dunes and the yacht-filled marina. Adding further intricacy and challenge, the pit lane exit travels through a swooping tunnel underneath the track. The profound grip the circuit offers can be credited to the Graywacke aggregate shipped from Bayston Hill quarry in Shropshire, England. Each of the five track configurations found in Forza Motorsport 5 will put your driving skills to a test.
