What TV do you peeps play on?

Post by Envy The Best on Sun Feb 09, 2014 8:53 pm

Moving to our downstairs area at home (family hates being woken up at 2am by me coming home from work), gives me the opportunity to finally hook up my PC to the steering wheel instead of just relying on both my consoles. Current Panasonic Plasma is getting real old, hell it only does 1080i, plus the brightness is literally gone.

Two panels that have been recommended for gaming are Sony's W900/905 series of panels and Panasonic's GT60 Plasmas. Honestly leaning towards the Panasonic due to their combination of low response times and the complete non-existance of motion blur inherent on LCD panels, but Sony's 8ms response time is really really hard to sneeze at. Looking at 50 inch but can deal with 42.

Curious to know what you guys use, specifically TV's.

Using a 96cm Panasonic LCD TV. It is not very new but it is HD and 100HZ so works well for both consoles. No HDD support and the SD card feature only allows photos. Has heaps of inputs so the XBox, 360, ONE, N64, Gamecube and TBox all have a home. The speakers are mint condition though, lol. Little Yamaha 5.1 system has been pumping out the sound since Forza 1. Finally watched a BlueRay vid (Rush) and the picture was very crisp and yesterdays final 3 hours of the B12hr looked stunning in HD. Would love a bigger screen but a little short on coin.

The screen size and distance you sit from it I have found affects the choice in racing view. For in-car view I need to move closer to the screen while bonnet or bumper view seem to be very natural from where the lounge is.

The old PC has a Dell 19" Widescreen at 1400 x 900. My kids only use it for Minecraft at the moment but no plans on turning it into anything special in the future as the ONE is doing the job.

Anyone with a triple screen set up? Started looking at that given that in the long term doing that might be the smarter option. Found an ideal solution for that, but the shipping is hella expensive

Pagnian offers nothing similar, just stuff that bolts directly to the rig, and theres no triple for the GTXtreme

Bigger is not always better. I find with the 50inch you can see more pixels and you gotta look around the thing, but a nice size like 32 and less everything looks smoother and you can see the whole screen without moving your head

I know what you mean kiwi... I find the distance I have the screen away is pretty good, any closer and you get a sore nek.
