mcrow5's real life photos - Hopetoun Falls
got myself a canon 550d, only got a small chance to go out today, crappy melbourne weather. it was sunny for about 30 mins, and these 2 where the best i got. C&C would be much appreciated.

im still learning all the settings, and how it all works. its nothing like taking photos in forza thats for sure.

no where near a beach mate haha, the closest one is over an hour away and on a good day, its always full. not the best place to take photos haha!
ah zoom, ive got 2 lenses, 18-55mm and 55-250mm. so anywhere in between that.

Great start mcrow!
I bought a Canon 500D with the same kit lenses as yours about a year ago and it has been good fun learning the camera (still learning actually) and getting some excellent results. They certainly are a great camera.
Good luck and keep us updated with your pics as you progress.

Re: mcrow5's real life photos - Hopetoun Falls
Some nice shots mate.
Watch your depth of field - Sometimes it's cool to go as short as you can with good effect (that first one in the above three), but then sometimes you lose details or find it hard to get focus right (the second one).
My favourite is that one of your one of the sunset in your backyard. Really good mix of colours and texture.
Previous Canons (not sure about the 550) are known to sometimes look a bit soft. Use the Filter -> Sharpen -> Unsharp mask to add a bit of detail.
Oh, and if you don't already, get some polarizing filters. They are the shizzle.
That reminds me - shoot in RAW if you can. Means you can adjust the white balance and everything else in photoshop. Clearer photos too.

Might have to drag my EOS out, been a while since I have used it. Mainly got it because of the fast series shot mode. I have not taken many still shots with it.
